We ❤️ Pasadena Playhouse! And the lovely and amazing cast and crew of Jelly’s Last Jam 🥰

Grateful to everyone at @pasadenaplayhouse as we open Jelly’s Last Jam. Proud to call this incredible theater one of our artistic homes!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Nuit de l’Imagination! We’re still floating after experiencing “Driftscape,” the mesmerizing electro-acoustic performance by @ursulakwongbrown and @erdberg.
🎧 Upon walking into the Grande Salle Ginsberg-LeClerc, attendees were handed a pair of wireless headphones to experience the work. For an hour and a half, the room drifted along to the healing sounds of organic soundscapes and binaural field recordings.
🌊 Daniel Erdberg and Ursula Kwong-Brown were invited to create this piece as an investigation of this year’s Nuit de l’Imagination theme: Boredom. Over the course of a six-week residency at Reid Hall, they layered textures and sounds withexperimental processing to create a subtly-evolving aural world. Wave sounds from the Sea Ranch, a remote coastal community founded in the 1960’s with utopian aspirations, met the sounds of passing cars and birds from the driveway of their home in Burbank, California.
🎙️ We spoke with Danny and Ursula about the process of creating “Driftscape”, and more broadly about their work and creative process, on our podcast Atelier. Look out for their episode, to be released soon!

The Nuit de l’Imagination is an annual event co-hosted by @cgcparis and @iii_snfphi. Following the success of last year’s Nuit on the theme of climate, this year’s Nuit on the theme of boredom was co-sponsored by the @sciencespo Maison des Arts et de la Création and @allianceprogram. A daytime conference with scholars and artists was followed by workshops for kids and teens, designed to reconnect them with the potential of boredom as a catalyst for creativity. After the “Driftscape” concert, attendees were invited to stay for a reception curated by @bonnefemme_paris featuring sensory food experiences. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s Nuit!

@ursulakwongbrown and I were so excited Christian Mazzalai of Phoenix happened by our studio today and stuck around to chat about the long history of American musicians in Paris (including my grandmother, who lived here in the 30’s). And we got to play with our SOMA Terra!
