In light of the news of Cris Derksen's passing, adjustments have been made to the show at Central United Church on June 18.

Local experimental saxophonist @jairussharif has been added to the bill and updated set times are as follows:

Thor Harris: 8pm
Jairus Sharif: 7pm
Nick Schofield: 6pm

Experimental sound-builder @thorharris moves fluidly between avant-garde composition, minimalist arrangements, and the raw physicality of handcrafted percussion. His approach to rhythm is both architectural and deeply emotional, shaped by years of pushing sonic boundaries with projects like Swans, Xiu Xiu, Yonatan Gat, Devendra Banhart, Shearwater, Bill Callahan, Ben Frost, Thor & Friends, and many, many more. Gracing Calgary with his solo project, he’ll unfold an intimate world of piano and clarinet loops.

Creating light through a musical practice that is raw, searching, and lit from within, Jairus Sharif builds his own liberation technology out of spontaneous composition and improvisation. Bending ecstatic jazz into folk memory, and threading noise through meditative stillness, Sharif blurs the line between trance and clarity, chaos and focus, which can be heard across a series of full-length albums, countless self-releases, and collaborations. If you didn’t get passes or tickets to catch him at the @clppng show, this is your chance!

Nick’s latest album Blue Hour explores ambient jazz and features Scott Bevins on trumpet – perfect for fans of Miles Davis’ In a Silent Way.
