THAT SOUNDS FUN! But what do you actually do...?
We get this a lot. Community arts sounds and looks fun, but what do we actually do? And how could we bring a bit of our magic to what YOU do? ✨
Our work falls under four branches:
🌟 Producing creative projects
🌟 Education programmes
🌟 Creative activations & public art
🌟 Personalised mentoring
Find out what that involves here, or visit our website to see our projects: www.getitdoneart.com (link in bio!)
Drop us a line at info@getitdoneart.com and let’s chat about the creative possibilities.
Think what we do sounds cool? Send to a friend or share it! It really helps us out 🙏

🎈 Calling all arts spaces and organisations in the North West that want to PLAY! 🎈
Hello! 👋 We’re bringing our DIY inflatable art workshops up north again in February half term and wanted to see if any organisations are interested in commissioning some inflatable play!
WHAT: Drop-in all day indoor DIY inflatable workshops for young people (and adults!). Our inflatable sessions are a chance to build inflatable architecture, develop new motor skills and explore everyday materials in new and sustainable ways. How can we activate our homes, schools, playgrounds with plastic bags and tape? We have toured our workshops around Oldham, Bolton, Salford and Croydon already.
We also have two hand-made indoor inflatable worm sculptures (silver and colourful) to activate your space. We can make more of these if you are interested in commissioning this!
WHERE: North West, around Manchester or Leeds
WHEN: February 2026
WHY: Fun?
Get in touch! Drop us a message here or send an email over to info@getitdoneart.com for a chat 🔺 🔶 🌀 ✨

We are so excited to finally announce the second of three new landmark murals on Rye Lane, Peckham.
FLAVOURS OF RYE LANE
PART I: THE WORK
Regan Gilflin’s @regancreates mural Flavours of Rye Lane transforms the street’s culinary landscape into a striking new visual landmark. At the heart of Rye Lane is food; markets, restaurants, groceries, grills. Food is a way of learning about people, exchanging ideas and experiencing different cultures.
On Holly Grove, outside Peckham Rye Station, Regan’s mural depicts a woman’s braids flowing across the wall, each bead represents fruits from the local markets - starfruit, guava, jalapeños, pitangas - speaking to the international communities that shape Peckham’s food culture. The beads become a tribute to the stories carried through generations, through shared recipes and the proud hairstyles of the women who preserve them.
The mural was co-created through creative workshops with local residents, cooking meals alongside volunteers at Peckham Soup Kitchen, and interviewing traders along Rye Lane.
This project was produced by Get It Done and commissioned by Southwark Council.

We Invite You to Gather Here Because We Must! 🌊🌞
We’re gathering on May 3 at 3 PM at Esat Hal and you’re warmly invited to take part in the public event of We Gather Here Because We Must.
Developed during the residency with artists from Türkiye and the UK, the installation and performance invite us to rethink public space as a climate commons shared, shaped, and activated together. 🌳💌
What happens when we become part of the space itself?
Come be part of it, activate the space with us. 🏄♀️
Let’s explore how small actions can shift collective experience.
This programme is supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture 2026 programme. #ConnectionsThroughCulture @turkeybritishcouncil @britisharts

"We Gather Here Because We Must” Projesinin Lansman Etkinliğine Davetlisiniz! 🌊🌞
Bu program, British Council Connections Through Culture 2026 kapsamında desteklenmektedir.

After making our inflatable worm at @makerworldhudds, we asked what can we take inspiration from here?
We looked at the SHAPE of our worm 🪱🌀🔸🟥 and made swirly, spirally shadow puppets that turned into snakes and axolotyls and more.
We looked at the MATERIAL ♻️🧱 of our worm and decided on experimenting with transparent coloured plastic.
And then we looked at the COLOUR 🌈 of our worm and made abstract viewfinders, holding the up to the window to change the colour of our worlds or placing them on the overhead projector to make more fun shadow play.
This is we call in the biz a material-led enquiry… aka let’s follow the thread and see what comes up! We love working in a open and flexible way that places children’s creativity and ideas central to the outcome. Let’s play more!
Thank you @makerworldhudds and @childrensartschooluk for having us! 🌀

We are pleased to announce the selected emerging artists for We Gather Here Because We Must! 🌿✨
We Gather Here Because We Must is an international exchange pairing four emerging artists from Türkiye and the UK. Together we will imagine and build small-scale, playful and low-cost creative actions that make the climate crisis visible and bring people together in everyday urban spaces.
And finally working with Öykü is Maisie Pritchard @maisieapritchard. Maisie is an artist and creative facilitator living in Manchester (UK) with a studio at Paradise Works in Salford, and Yellowhammer in Stockport. She is interested in how artistic and design processes can crossover to generate functional and interactive artworks.
Maisie invites people to interact, co-create and engage through shared acts of making. People’s participation often activates the work within both gallery and community contexts, andsometimes through workshops that involve teaching, sharing and exchanging creative skills.
This programme is supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture 2026 programme.

🌀 WE MADE AN INFLATABLE PLAYGROUND 🌀
Neat!! We brought our inflatables up to Huddersfield in February to take over @makerworldhudds at @childrensartschooluk and it was very fun…
Our participatory inflatable workshops are all about using recycled materials in inventive and sustainable ways (thank you @renee_materials for all our plastic needs!). How can you activate your homes, schools, neighbourhoods with some plastic bags and tape? It’s all about learning to play with what’s already around you.
Our group of young people cut and stuck together a mega patchwork of recycled plastics, inflating it to create a giant inflatable snake! These sensory workshops are great for young people to learn new making, testing and fine motor skills, and for adults to help them! (Shoutout dads in STEM)
We are looking to bring our inflatables to MORE places across the UK this summer. Want to build your own inflatable project with us and play? Message us here or email info@getitdoneart.com and let’s get some things done 🌀
Part two of our time at @childrensartschooluk coming up 🐍🔺🔶🔹✨

Our third artist is Öykü Işıl Kışla a visual artist and performer based in Ankara (Türkiye). Her practice treats the city as a living, thermal body, exploring how public space holds memory, breath, and collective presence.
Working across performance and site-specific installation, she combines industrial materials with Anatolian traditions such as yazma and foya to examine insulation, exposure and survival in the context of climate crisis. Her work focuses on making erased or muted narratives perceptible, creating socially engaged interventions that invite shared nefes (breath) and communal resonance.

How do you design a PLAY FULL city? Part 1
Our PLAY FULL project with @savechildrenuk was co-developed alongside Year 5 pupils, bringing children’s voices, research and big ideas into conversations about how neighbourhoods could better support play.
It developed in many exciting ways (from @childfriendlymanchester and local councillors pledging increased local funding, to @savechildrenuk embedding the PLAY FULL model into their 2026 strategy). But one of the most visible outcomes came through our collaboration with @editionalstudio.
Architecture studio Editional are developing play-based placemaking interventions in Longsight. As part of PLAY FULL, we invited them to work with our Creative Crews to imagine what these could look like.
Using chalk our young people drew different ideas for ‘floorals’ (floor murals!), games built into benches, obstacle trails and decorations to bring moments of play into the streets.
We’re very glad to say that some of these ideas have made it into the final designs and will be brought to life later this year!

Unbelievably behind on sharing our PLAY FULL project with @savechildrenuk…
Last time we shared we were making foodie faces. PLAY FULL took us on a serious journey! From co-designing playful fortune teller research games, to presenting ideas to decision-makers through sandwich houses, to running a market stall full of creativity and play.
But the children wanted their ideas to be seen and heard by more. We needed to stage a protest… Leading mass participation workshops in each school, over 1,400 children made parade artworks that shared their reflections on how play could grow within themselves, their homes and their schools.
In July, our three primary schools marched through Longsight with artworks, drums, banners and megaphones, led by our Year 5 Creative Crews.
Previously, local residents had raised concerns about safety in the park, so the parade became a way to reclaim the space – turning it into somewhere children and families could be together safely and celebrate the start of the summer holidays.
Genuinely hundreds of families joined in a relaxed day of play, exploring the park, building a creative cardboard city and even trying circus skills
BUT THERE’S MORE!

Unbelievably behind on sharing our PLAY FULL project with @savechildrenuk…

Our first artist is Hathaikan Kongaunruan @byhathaikan, a socially engaged artist, facilitator and producer based in Manchester (UK), whose work challenges how we assign value to materials and objects.
Using DIY methods and found materials, Hattie’s practice resists overconsumption through transforming the discarded into playful sculptures rooted in environmental care and resourcefulness. Influenced by her upbringing as a second-generation immigrant, revisiting Thailand deepened her exploration into folklore, rituals and spiritual symbols through an eco-feminist lens.
This programme is supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture 2026 programme.
