The past 3 months of my life have unlocked something new inside me.

I spent my time at a funded art residency at @air.hue with @nhaninsummer .It was hard to fully put into words. Life slowed down. I got to use my hand to really touch, feel, carve, make things, to feel grounded in my body.

I got to experience 4 seasons of Hue, from winter, spring, the intense summer heat to endless rain. I got to eat fucking good food. I’ve made a lot of new friends, no matter the age,,,and I’ve had so many meaningful conversations that once in a while when I think about it, something new lands in my brain. I got to go to places that I’ve never been. I got to swim in Huong river. And somewhere in all of it,,,I started to really understand who I am, what I’m capable of, and how much I’ve changed.

AirHue rất vui mừng được giới thiệu bộ đôi nghệ sĩ được lựa chọn nhận gói tài trợ trong khuôn khổ Chương trình lưu trú 2025 – Nhân Phan và Ivy Võ với dự án “Lúc có lúc không”.

Sử dụng công nghệ như một chất liệu sáng tác, thực hành của Nhân và Ivy thường thiết lập những tình huống tương tác nhằm khơi gợi một cảm giác hay một tâm sự lặng kết từ trải nghiệm cá nhân. Họ sắp đặt các thiết bị điện tử và phần mềm để phân mảnh ký ức, làm biến dạng ngôn ngữ, đề xuất những phiên bản khác nhau của một quá khứ tan vỡ.

Dự án “Lúc có lúc không” tiếp nối những suy tư về khả năng chuyên chở tình cảm của công nghệ, kết hợp với trúc chỉ truyền thống tại Huế để cơi nới khả năng truyền đạt của chất liệu. Một chia sẻ của anh Phan Hải Bằng về bài thơ tình chàng trai viết lên chiếc nón mỏng tang, để khi đặt dưới ánh sáng mặt trời chỉ còn những dòng thơ hiện diện đã gợi cho hai nghệ sĩ nghĩ về tính biến đổi của chất liệu, dưới ánh sáng, trong khoảng cách, tựa như những gần gụi xa xăm của các mối quan hệ trong đời.

meet ‘miss word’: a quiet word-organism i made to capture that slippery moment when you almost catch a word... then lose it.

she moves like slime mould: decentralised, adaptive, self-organising. always drifting, never quite arriving.

i made her because watching english films without subtitles feels just like this. if you know me, i HAVE to watch english-speaking films with subtitles... i need them to lock in, or else my mind wanders. subtitles are a net that help me catching language before it slips away. it’s how my brain treats english as a second language.

i remember going to the cinema ages ago to watch the french dispatch without subtitles (subtitle screening wasn’t available that week). thought it’d be fine. spent the whole time irritated because why would i sit there trying to make sense of wes anderson’s whimsy and really fast dialogue…🙂‍↔️ i can’t stress enough how this deficit feels like a quiet disability.

i’m still reactive, still need subtitles. but somewhere along the way, i started finding beauty in the fragmented things. ‘almost-understanding’ is okay, i guess.

my brain is simple. so are my sentences.

𝗜𝘃𝘆 𝗩𝗼(aka RAUCAAU) @vovynam (VN/UK) is an artist who works with graphic designs, prints, installations and videos. She challenges conventional notions of form and function, delving into taboo subjects and cultural nuances often overlooked in modern society. She’s member of 𝗕𝗮𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘇, a UK-based collective that provides a space for individuals of Asian heritage to exist authentically, free from tokenisation. &co-founder of 𝒱ℐ𝒩𝒜𝒳𝒪𝒜 @vinaxoa , a London-based contemporary Viet snacks collective of silly friends who are serious about food, with the mission to fill in the gap of diasporic representation in London’s current cultural landscape.

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲(𝗧𝗙𝗜) @tropicalfutures is a multidisciplinary studio that explores aesthetics and practices within tropical contexts, particularly 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮.
