For Sale: 1970 Mercedes Benz 280s (W108 series)

Introduced at the Frankfurt Motor show in 1965, the W108 series set a new standard for mass produced luxury saloons
Designed by Paul Bracq, who is also known for designing the Mercedes Benz W113 Pagoda.

In 1967 to 1972 the second series of W108’s was introduced with in line 6-cylinder overhead cam engines upgraded to 2.8 litres (M130 engine series) with the 280s fueled by two twin barrel downdraft Zenith carburetors. The W108 series was an amazing success known for reliability and durability and are sought after collector cars today

This Mercedes Benz 280s 4 speed manual was built in East London South Africa and is finished in Light yellow with the tan leather upholstery which the South African examples are known for

It is accompanied by a maintenance file with a summary going back 23 years. This Mercedes Benz 280s has covered 6000km over the last 12 years when major mechanical refurbishment was completed including the cylinder head, carburetor, and starter motor repairs

The Triumph TR series was a line of British sports cars built by the Triumph Motor Company between 1953 and 1981.

Marketed in period as “The exciting car you can afford”, the Triumph TR7 was in production from 1975 to 1981 and is the best-selling TR model of all time. Harris Mann designed the TR7, whose radical wedge profile was billed “the Shape of Things to Come.”

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is a V12 powered grand tourer designed by Pininfarina. This Ferrari takes its name from Sergio Scaglietti, the designer and coachbuilder of many legendary Ferraris in the 1950’s and 60’s. The car’s scooped flanks were inspired by the Ferrari 375MM which was commissioned by Italian film director Roberto Rossellini for his wife Ingrid Bergman.

This is the second all aluminium Ferrari after the 360 Modena and is a true four-seater with space in the rear for adults. Although this is a more practical Ferrari than most, the 5.7l V12 can propel the four occupants to 323km/h with the well-balanced chassis and rear mounted gearbox providing a confidence inspiring ride. 

This Example: 
According to the original service booklets, this example was delivered new on the 5th of May 2006 by Viglietti Cape Town to a well-known Cape Town businessman. He ordered this Ferrari 612 Scaglietti in Blue Pozzi nonmetallic paint with a Crema interior, dark blue carpets, a red rev counter and a Commemorative plaque for Ferrari’s 28 Formula 1 titles. A set of Challenge style rims were fitted later in its life.

This Ferrari has only covered 36 520 km from new, has been well maintained and serviced. New Michelin tyres were fitted and a cambelt service was completed in September 2025. This is an opportunity to secure a V12 Ferrari in excellent condition that will provide a special, dynamic and luxurious experience for its new owner.

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is a V12 powered grand tourer designed by Pininfarina. This Ferrari takes its name from Sergio Scaglietti, the designer and coachbuilder of many legendary Ferraris in the 1950’s and 60’s. The car’s scooped flanks were inspired by the Ferrari 375MM which was commissioned by Italian film director Roberto Rossellini for his wife Ingrid Bergman.

This is the second all aluminium Ferrari after the 360 Modena and is a true four-seater with space in the rear for adults. Although this is a more practical Ferrari than most, the 5.7l V12 can propel the four occupants to 323km/h with the well-balanced chassis and rear mounted gearbox providing a confidence inspiring ride.

According to the original service booklets, this example was delivered new on the 5th of May 2006 by Viglietti Cape Town to a well-known Cape Town businessman. He ordered this Ferrari 612 Scaglietti in Blue Pozzi nonmetallic paint with a Crema interior, dark blue carpets, a red rev counter and a Commemorative plaque for Ferrari’s 28 Formula 1 titles. A set of Challenge style rims were fitted later in its life.

This Ferrari has only covered 36 520 km from new, has been well maintained and serviced. New Michelin tyres were fitted and a cambelt service was completed in September 2025. This is an opportunity to secure a V12 Ferrari in excellent condition that will provide a special, dynamic and luxurious experience for its new owner.
