Ducks in Harmony presents Guy Williams + Gina Breeze with Todmorden’s local legend Major K/ Kiya “Iconoclast”

Born out of a passion for hope on the dance floor, community and art. Ducks in Harmony supports Open Hands Essentials, raising funds to provide asylum seekers in St.Helens with essential items.

is a space that celebrates music, inclusivity, and creativity, bringing people together through a shared sense of empathy, movement, and fluidity. It offers a welcoming environment for free thinkers, lovers, and nonconformists to express themselves openly and connect with others in an atmosphere that values authenticity and artistic freedom.

Born from the brains of @alex_ware and @mezissou who want others to enjoy and foster a sense of community and diversity through a shared love of music and creative autonomy!

Open Hands Essentials is a volunteer led
community group, established to provide practical support to Asylum Seekers and Refugees, rooted in compassion, dignity, and human connection. Founded in 2025, the group emerged from listening closely to people with lived experience who described arriving in the asylum system.

People seeking asylum often carry the weight of multiple, overlapping traumas. Many have fled war, persecution, or extreme violence, human rights abuses, and loss, only to face dangerous journeys and long periods of fear and uncertainty. On arrival, people are frequently placed in temporary accommodation with limited access to basic essentials such as suitable clothing, toiletries, or items that reflect their culture, identity, or personal needs. These gaps may seem small, but they can have a significant impact on dignity, wellbeing, and a person’s sense of self. These experiences leave many struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma, making everyday life feel overwhelming. Behind every asylum claim is a person who has survived more than most of us can imagine, and who deserves compassion, stability, and support to begin healing.

What makes Open Hands Essentials distinctive is not only what it provides, but how it provides it. Support is offered through welcoming pop‑up shops and personalised items. This choice-based approach recognises that dignity comes from being seen as an individual, moments of human connection, belonging, and kindness at a time when these are most needed. In doing so, the project reminds us that community, grounded in empathy, can be a powerful force for inclusion and hope.
