As we support leaders and organisations in navigating change and transformation, we also believe it is important to invest time in our own people and culture so we can continue serving our clients and partners with greater energy, collaboration, and care.

On 25 May, our department will be away for a department team building and development as we take time to learn, reconnect, and grow together.

We appreciate your patience for the slight delays in our responses, and we look forward to serving our clients and partners with renewed energy and fresh perspectives.

For years, many believed the Monsoon Wind Project initiated by Impact Electrons Siam's Peck Khamkanist would never happen.

Too remote. Too risky. Too politically complex.

Yet since August 2025, the 600MW wind farm started delivering #cleanenergy across borders from the mountains of southern Laos into Vietnam, marking it as one of Southeast Asia’s most ambitious #RenewableInfrastructure projects to date.

The project reveals the hard realities behind delivering large-scale, cross-border sustainable renewable infrastructure development in emerging markets, from political risk and transmission constraints to blended finance, stakeholder alignment, and long-term execution under uncertainty.

These are the strategic tensions and trade-offs infrastructure leaders are increasingly facing today.

Learning goes far beyond frameworks and theory at the Growing Infrastructure Course jointly curated by SMU Executive Development, Infrastructure Asia and the World Bank Group.

Risk Monitoring Division Head Kristin C. San Pedro from the Public-Private Partnership Center of the Philippines captured the essence of the programme perfectly.

As cities grow, many are investing heavily in “smart city” technologies.

But what makes a city truly "smart"? Is it the sophisticated urban innovations? What happens when cities collect huge amounts of data… but lack the governance, talent and systems to use it well?

These are the real questions and challenges that define smart city transformation.

In our latest article, Prof Orlando Woods, Director at the SMU Urban Institute distilled five Smart City Development Imperatives after exploring how smart city policies and digitalisation initiatives are developed, transferred, and adapted to different urban contexts across Southeast Asia in a three-year research project.

↔️ 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁-𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲: Start with clearly defined, solvable problems before pursuing city-wide transformation.

👨‍👨‍👦‍👦 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺: Technology only works when it changes real human behaviour and addresses validated needs.

📊 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁: Without integrated data ecosystems, “smart” solutions become disconnected tools rather than coordinated systems.

📈 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆: The goal is not to deploy more technology. The goal is to improve how cities actually function.

🎯 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: There is no universal smart city model. What works in one city may fail completely in another.

📖Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/3R6l4rN

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲, the Urban Data Management Programme explores how urban data can support smarter, more resilient and more liveable cities. http://smu.sg/udmp

Motherhood is often described in personal terms, but its impact runs far wider. Many of the values we see in strong leaders today— #resilience, #empathy, #adaptability —are first learned from mothers and mother figures who lead quietly, consistently, and without recognition.

Today, we celebrate the women who shape who we become, at home, at work, and in the world.

To all the mothers in our community, and to those who step into that role in different ways: thank you for the strength, perspective, and care you bring into every space you’re part of.

Happy Mother’s Day from SMU Executive Development.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀?

At the Growing Infrastructure Course by SMU Executive Development, Infrastructure Asia and The World Bank Group, participants are exposed to global case studies and challenged to adapt, question, and translate them into their own contexts.

For Listiani Cita Utami, Vice President at PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (Persero), that meant bridging Singapore’s experience with Indonesia’s realities. “𝘐 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘚𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦,” she said.

Not copying. Not importing models wholesale.

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆, because governance hasn’t kept pace with adoption.

Which raises serious questions:
⚠️Who is accountable when AI gets it wrong?
🚨How do you challenge decisions you don’t fully understand?
🚫What does “due diligence” even look like in an AI-driven organisation?

The AI Governance programme, conducted by SMU-ExD Executive Development and delivered in partnership with the Singapore Institute of Directors and Singapore Computer Society, is designed specifically for directors and senior leaders navigating this shift.

In 2 days, you will:
🎯𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗜’𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 on governance, risk, and strategy
🛡️𝗚𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 to make defensible, informed decisions
🤖𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 as a board leader in the AI era

Next intake on 8 and 9 October 2026. Admission is selective. https://smu.sg/AIGov

Be brutally honest. What drives decisions in your organisation? More often than not, it's revenue targets.

Most Client Relationship Managers are managing transactions. That is just how organisations are hardwired as a means of survival in the cutthroat business world.

And here's another uncomfortable truth—
We have tons of programmes that train competence, but very few actually build judgement.

These were the starting points for our partnership with East West Banking Corporation's wealth management business, East West Priority. Read our success story https://smu.sg/EastWest

Together, we co-created a customised programme with a different ambition. Not just to sharpen technical capability, but to fundamentally shift how Relationship Managers show up for their clients as trusted stewards.

For East West, this meant building a team that doesn’t just serve clients, but stands alongside them as long-term partners in their financial journeys.

Because in today’s wealth landscape, expertise is expected. Trust is earned.
And judgement is what sets you apart.

Over four months, participants didn’t just learn frameworks. They unlearn habits. This shift from responding to understanding is what turns managers into stewards.

One of our participants Marvin summed it up aptly—
"𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬. 𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴, 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘰, 𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘴. 𝘐𝘵 𝘱𝘶𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵.”

Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
