Foxing are a band from St. Louis, Missouri and independently released their self-titled, fifthalbum Foxing on 13 September 2024. At its core, Foxing, is an album that balances hopefulness and nihilism, the pastoral with the tumultuous. Whether oscillating between visceral noise rock and intimate bedroom cassette experiments on opener „Secret History“ or cruising at the edge of collapse on „Barking,“ the dramatic dynamics that have long permeated Foxing’s music have never felt so extreme. Five albums into a discography defined by its own restlessness, Foxing is a document of a band finding comfort in their own chaos.

„A Circle with Many Centres“ is a reference to a short story by Haruki Murakami. It is also the realization by Oakhands that life and feelings cannot be so logically differentiated and dissected as was assumed and practised on the previous album „TSOYGR“ but that feelings simply have to be experienced, and that all the personal conflicts are more strongly and universally connected than one would like. „A Circle with Many Centres“ can also be read as a late coming-of-age record. A post-adolescent record about the „true“ coming of age around 30, late individual Sturm & Drang phases. About the realisation of where the root of all personal conflicts lies: depression.

Foxing are a band from St. Louis, Missouri and independently released their self-titled, fifthalbum Foxing on 13 September 2024. At its core, Foxing, is an album that balances hopefulness and nihilism, the pastoral with the tumultuous. Whether oscillating between visceral noise rock and intimate bedroom cassette experiments on opener „Secret History“ or cruising at the edge of collapse on „Barking,“ the dramatic dynamics that have long permeated Foxing’s music have never felt so extreme. Oakhands

Oakhands from Munich, Germany built their house right on the borders of post-hardcore, emo and indierock. "Sturm & Drang" is the band's catchphrase and perfectly describes their music: relentlessly it charges forward, thriving with each chord and syllable, putting all their emotions at the very heart of their creative works - just like the artists of the eponymous era. eir musical complexity and metaphorical abstraction in the form of storytelling is always complemented by audio-visual experimental experiences that challenge the viewer to broaden one's horizon as to what music is about.

Placid

From along the Rhine river comes Placid, who are here to showcase their distinct blend of Hardcore Punk on this 6-song 7”. Lyrics sang in both French and English drift between holding a rough melody with snarky sharp yells, while the chorus drenched guitar wails away providing to the sharp attack delivered. The rhythm section holds it all down while relentlessly going between brisk hard-driven parts and snappy pogo beats, with the sum of all these parts leading to a sneakily catchy but intense outcome. It’s hard to put an absolute finger on what DNA makes up Placid, but I can’t help but think of it as the bastard combination between the full on chorus attack of Neon Christ, the frantic bouncing urgency of The Comes, and a little touch of melody from the French legends Camera Silens.

Hellscape

What do you know of revenge? Oh decay, ire, and cold nights lying in wait, shrouded in ice and shadow; cursed putrefaction and stillness in stone. The grave will never betray you but life will. Oceans and air burn, rivers choke and the sun is blocked out with the insanity of a lifeless silence. Hellscape. A zero sum unity of assured destruction, bound and drawn. An ostinato interrupted by a intense bellow and rhythmic violence.
