🔘Piggybacking on @huntercycles’ post from today.
🔘Just a few photos of this magnificent machine that Rick built for me in 2012, interspersed with images from the trip for which it was constructed.
🔴2013 Canning Stock Route traverse with the wonderful @bicyclenomad.
🔘The bike returned to Aus on loan for Canning attempts with two others, and then again in 2018 for my solo traverse of the Anne Beadell Highway.
🖤The one bike I’ll never sell, but it’s promised to @tony.yyc if the 🚁 doesn’t get to me in time…

My dear friends over @rockgeist have partnered with @valentinebikes who built this stunning gravel bike as the raffle prize to support a family in the Asheville cycling community struggling through a battle with cancer.
🎈 Support for the build also came from @canecreekusa, @industry_nine & @gravelo.workshop.
🎈 Please go to the @valentinebikes page to find out more about the raffle and to buy tix!

🔘There’s a worthwhile discussion in how it is we learn things, and in particular, how we learn to make things.
🔘I don’t dare discount formal education at any level, but I often find myself in conversations about the best way to learn a craft. And by craft, I mean the art of making object(s) really really well.
🔘The only way I’ve ever known to learn any craft-based discipline is the following recipe:
▶️Curiosity
▶️Read
▶️Try it
▶️Make embarrassing mistakes
▶️Read
▶️Try it again
▶️Make mistakes
⏩Repeat
🔴These little nuggets you see in the above photographs are my first attempt at anything resembling production machining. They are little bicycle frame gussets, if you will, to help alleviate some of the fiddle-plucking that is coping complex seatstay-to-dropout joints. I made these on my @tormach CNC mill for my friend @kruchcustombicycles. (Swipe two times to see the secret.)
🔘This process taught me a lot of neat little tricks to make my machining more efficient, and I also learned a few shortcuts in @adskfusion360. But the most important thing it taught me was that I have a LONG way to go until this is a craft that I can claim.
❓So what IS the way to learn a craft? I’d love to read your thoughts. To be taught, or to teach oneself? Both?

🪑Two years and a far cry from bicycle touring, this is what may occupy my making focus for a while.
🔘I’ve always had a love for minimalist furniture, and have long wanted to try my hand at designs of my own.
🔘Hand-bent, TIG-welded 4130 tubing makes up the main structures, Canadian maple support ribs add a subtle industrial accent, and powdercoated 6061 aluminum sheet tops make for a solid little kitchen set. I also made press-in Delrin glider feet on my @tormach CNC mill so as to provide a durable, non-marring floor contact.
🔴I made these as a birthday gift for @2201naomi .
( I did not make the bent plywood chairs…maybe one day! )

🕹I’ve received a few emails lately asking about if/when we would ever have product available again.
🗓Well, almost two years ago, I made the tough decision to take a new path, and step away from the bicycle touring gear industry. In that, I also found an amazing home for the designs in Porcelain Rocket’s design catalogue.
🚀@rockgeist has done an incredible job of taking the designs that we introduced, and making some thoughtful and solid improvements. They have just re-released the 52Hz 100% waterproof frame pack, and they look excellent. Great work, guys!
🪤Rockgeist is also continuing to work with @tumbleweedbikes on their OEM framebags, for both the Prospector & Stargazer models.
🍩I’m still managing warranty for any gear bearing the PR logo, so please don’t hesitate to reach out through the site, if you have any issues with older gear!

I rode @bikepackingcom’s Grand Staircase route, and it looks like I only have one photo from the whole route, and it’s pretty much the same one that everyone takes. Ah well…
The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
This free tool allows you to view Instagram Stories anonymously, ensuring your activity remains hidden from the story uploader.
Anonstories lets users view Instagram stories without alerting the creator.
