On Friday, May 23, unspun Studio and SOOOP present Beyond the Screen—an evening of experimental animation, interactive installations, and conversation, held at unspun’s creative space in Central, Hong Kong.

The program features works by local and international artists, including an interactive piece by Shana Aminova and a feature screening by Mufasa Yu, followed by a panel on the intersection of art and technology.

Proceeds support earthquake relief in Myanmar, with Burmese Apron providing food and donating 25% of sales to the cause.

The feature film screening at Beyond the Screen showcases new work by Hong Kong filmmaker @mufasay , following its buzzing debut at the Box @freespacewestk .

This film is an exploration of how the language of film, as a time-based medium, resonates with our tangible reality.

In Nothing Really Happened, images rearrange themselves spontaneously towards chaos and reunion, until they no longer move nor rest, appear nor dissolve. Textured bodies and objects blend into surrealism, immersing the viewer in the film’s haunting visuals and hypnotic soundscapes that reflect on structures of time and life.

We see everything, yet nothing, while experiencing it all, all at once.

Featuring original music by HK band @clave_official that blends ambient, post-rock, electronic music, and trip hop, this is not one to be missed.

Beyond the Screen also features a curated menu by @burmeseapron . 25% of proceeds from food will go to Better Burma to support the earthquake relief in Myanmar, and further donations for aid will be accepted at the event.
