A piece that discusses the biases placed upon us from an early age. The act of unlearning is radical. To question your elders, your community, your society to find your own truth is an act of valor.

Blinded;
By Suede

Before we take our first breath, the world has already painted our eyes shut.
Born into stories we do not choose,
We inherit blindness wrapped in love,
Blindness, dressed as comfort, as safety.
We learn who is “other,”
Who deserves, who does not.
The colors of our skin, the God(s) we pray to,
The love we hold—
Judged and reshaped in the hands of those who say they know better.
And so we walk, guided by shadows
We stumble over truth,
Kicking it aside,
Because the blindfold teaches us to fear the light.

But one day, if we are brave, our fingers will reach for the cloth
A question will arise—
“What if this is not the truth?”
“What if I am more than what I was taught?”
It is not easy to peel away the years,
To confront the cracks in our beliefs,
The ones we clung to so tightly.
It takes courage to see the world raw,
Unfiltered, uncolored by fear.

And when the blindfold is gone, we are reborn, not as who we were taught to be, but as who we choose to become
And though the light may burn at first,
It is the fire of a new truth,
One that we build,
One that we see with our own eyes.
Because
We are all born blind,
But the greatest act of courage
Is to see.

Virgo’s Story ⤵️
Within the grand library of Bukhara, the Virgo Rani sat surrounded by towering shelves of parchment and ink, her hands smudged with notes scribbled in the margins of ancient texts. Where others sought wealth or war, she sought understanding for knowledge that could shape the world.
Her quarters were an alchemist’s dream, cluttered with brass instruments, celestial charts, and half-finished inventions. She studied the stars, the anatomy of plants, the mechanics of water wheels. No detail escaped her analytical gaze, no experiment was too small. If there was a flaw, she would find it; if there was a better way, she would build it.
One afternoon, a visiting scholar scoffed at her latest project—a device meant to improve irrigation in arid lands. “Leave invention to the men,” he chided. “Your place is in poetry, not engineering.”
Without a word, she adjusted a lever. Water, which had struggled to reach the farthest crops, now flowed effortlessly through her newly designed channels. The scholar fell silent.
She turned to him, a knowing glint in her eye. “Knowledge belongs to those who seek it. Not just those who expect it.”
The Virgo Rani did not care for applause. Her reward was in the next discovery, the next breakthrough. And so, as the empire slept, she worked by candlelight—reshaping the world, one innovation at a time.

She studied the dyes of Persia, the embroidery of Gujarat, the wool of Kashmir, and blended them into a tapestry of trade that no rival could match. She ran her fingers along the embroidered edge of a pashmina shawl, her rings catching the lamplight. Then she looked at him, steady and unwavering.

“Hard work. Discipline. And the understanding that nothing worth having is ever freely given.”

The nobleman smiled and simply placed an order—one that would drape the shoulders of the Shah himself.

As the Capricorn Rani watched him depart, she adjusted the gold bangles on her wrists and turned back to her work. For while others only saw beauty in the fabric, she saw something greater—dominion, built one thread at a time.

A little narrative behind the art:

Under a sky heavy with stars, the Pisces Rani traveled from kingdom to kingdom, her music flowing like water through the streets. Draped in flowing silks that shimmered like the ocean at dusk, she carried her most treasured possession—a sitar, its wood darkened by time, its strings kissed by the tides. It had been a gift from her mother, Neptune, who had whispered secrets of the universe into her daughter’s hands.

She was no ordinary musician. Her fingers knew the language of more than just the sitar; they danced across the flute, the tabla, the harp. She would pull people into a trance with every note.
