Accessibility is about dignity. It’s about whether a parent with a stroller, a senior heading to a doctor’s appointment, or a neighbor using a wheelchair can move freely through our community.
Right now, too many stations along the 7 line (82nd, 90th, 103rd, and 111th) are still out of reach. That’s not just an inconvenience. It’s inequality.
Our plan is simple and bold: build the elevators our communities deserve. Prioritize 82nd Street near Elmhurst Hospital. Deliver real access. No more delays, no more excuses. Because accessibility isn’t a luxury. It is a right. And together, we’re going to make our transit system work for everyone.
It was an honor to appear on @ny1 to speak about why I’m running for State Senate and why the people of Corona, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst, and Jackson Heights deserve better.
We deserve bold, values-driven leadership that listens, collaborates, and delivers.
No family in Queens should have to choose between paying rent and putting food on the table. Feeding our families isn’t charity; it’s a moral obligation and a smart public investment. As your next State Senator, I will fight to ensure every New Yorker can access healthy, affordable food no matter who they are or where they come from.
____

I’m deeply honored and proud to receive the endorsement of Equality New York PAC in my campaign for State Senate. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
At a time when LGBTQ+ communities are facing relentless attacks across the country, our fight for equality, dignity, and justice has never been more urgent. I’m proud to stand alongside advocates and organizers working to build a New York where every person can live safely, freely, and authentically.
Thank you to @equalitynewyork PAC for recognizing our shared commitment to advancing the civil rights and needs of LGBTQ+ New Yorkers. I’m excited to continue fighting together for equity, inclusion, and liberation for all. ✊🏽

Last week, I was so grateful to join neighbors and young people for our community clean-up in partnership with the Jackson Heights Beautification Group. 🧹
A special shoutout to Al, who stepped in with emergency brooms and supplies when there was a delay in getting materials — your support made all the difference. Also grateful to Variety Bakery for the treats for our volunteers!
This is what community looks like: neighbors showing up for one another, taking pride in our streets, and working together to beautify our neighborhood. I’m so grateful to everyone who came out to lend a hand to help keep our community beautiful! ✨

Today, as part of the Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislative Caucus @bphacaucus, we came together to meet with @nycmayor @zohrankmamdani to discuss priorities for our communities.
I’m grateful for the Mayor’s thoughtful and engaging discussion and excited to partner as we work to address New York’s affordability crisis and fight for a world where all people have access to a life with dignity.
Thank you to our Chair, @solagesny, for her leadership, and to my colleagues, the Mayor and his incredible team for convening this important conversation. Together, we’re building a more affordable, equitable New York for all. ✨

Today’s budget vote was about building a New York that is both safer and more just. ✊🏽
I was proud to support key budget provisions that confront the growing threat of ghost guns and conversion devices, while protecting the dignity of immigrant communities across our state.
Just as importantly, this budget affirms that our schools, hospitals, libraries, and universities must remain places of care, learning, and opportunity—not fear.
I’m especially proud that this budget includes language from my bill to protect immigrant students in our public university systems, ensuring young people can pursue their education without intimidation or surveillance.
It also ends harmful 287(g) agreements that erode trust and make communities less safe.
While this bill did not go far enough to prohibit collusion, I stand firmly ready to keep fighting for my neighbors. We do not have to choose between public safety and immigrant dignity. New York is strongest when every family can live, learn, and thrive with safety, freedom, and respect.

Proud to earn the endorsement of Stonewall Democrats NYC @stonewalldemsnyc in my State Senate race! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
As an out queer legislator, I’m honored to stand with leaders on the front lines of LGBTQIA+ liberation. Together, we keep fighting for dignity, safety, and justice for all New Yorkers.

This past weekend was all about celebrating our young people and the incredible school communities that help them thrive. 🎓🍎
On Friday, I joined educators, families, and community members at P721Q’s 50th Spring Fair alongside @uftny President Michael Mulgrew and union leadership to celebrate students and the amazing work happening at the John F. Kennedy Jr. District 75 School in Elmhurst. Every child deserves a school community that sees their potential and invests in their success.
On Saturday, I stopped by our @ucs_uft, PS 19 in Corona, for their Community Fair with our partners at @hanacinc and the @elmhurstcommunitypartnership. It was beautiful to see families, educators, and local organizations come together to connect neighbors with resources, support, and opportunities.
And finally, I joined families from across @nycdistrict30 at Family Fun Day in Woodside—a joyful district-wide celebration with Superintendent Hidalgo, @d30cec, educators, and community partners. From games and crafts to resources and family fun, it was a beautiful reminder that when schools and communities come together, our young people thrive.
Our schools are more than classrooms—they are hubs of community, care, and possibility. So grateful to all the teachers, staff, parents, and partners who make these spaces so special for our young people. 💫

🚨 BILL PASSED: A2107 🚨
Yesterday, the Assembly passed my labor bill to bring greater fairness and transparency to the workplace.
Every worker deserves the right to know what’s being written about them in their personnel file and how it could impact their job, future opportunities, and livelihood.
No one should be disciplined, denied opportunities, or terminated based on information they’ve never seen or had the chance to correct.
A2107 gives workers access to their personnel records, creates a process to address knowingly false information, and helps ensure personnel files are used to support workers — not retaliate against them.
Proud to move this bill forward with @sen_gounardes in the fight for dignity and fairness on the job. ✊🏽

Emgage Action is proud to endorse JGR.
Throughout her time in the Assembly, JGR has demonstrated what principled and community-centered leadership looks like. She was instrumental in helping carry New York’s MENA inclusion legislation across the finish line, ensuring Middle Eastern and North African communities are finally seen, counted, and recognized in state data and public policy. That work mattered deeply to our communities and reflected a real commitment to equity, visibility, and representation.
JGR has consistently shown up for Muslim New Yorkers and understands that inclusion must be backed by action, policy, and partnership.
“I’m deeply honored to earn the endorsement of Emgage Action, an organization that represents the strength, dignity, and civic power of Muslim communities across New York. I am committed to standing firmly against Islamophobia and all forms of hate, and to ensuring our public institutions respect and serve the cultural and religious needs of every family, including making Eid a school holiday across the state and expanding access to Halal meals in our schools. Together, we are building a future rooted in respect, equity, and belonging, where every community has a seat at the table and a voice in shaping what comes next.”
We are excited to stand alongside JGR as we continue building civic power and advancing a more inclusive New York for all.
