Cities don’t just change when the sun goes down, they reveal a completely different story.
Lighting isn’t only about visibility.
It’s about how people feel when they move through a space at night.
Safe. Confident. Connected.
As lighting designers, we shape those experiences.
The right light can guide movement, improve accessibility, and turn uncertainty into comfort.
We’re now seeing a shift where lighting merges with technology. Smart poles. Integrated systems. Connected infrastructure.
Spaces that don’t just illuminate, but communicate.
From transport hubs to campuses and healthcare environments, these innovations are redefining how cities function after dark.
Projects like Old Street show what’s possible when lighting and technology work together creating places that feel clearer, safer, and more human at night.
At @wspukandi we’re continuing to explore how design can transform night-time environments
not by making them brighter,
but by making them better.

This International Women's Day, we’re shining a light on the women whose leadership lifts teams, shapes communities and drives impact across @wspukandi.
Women are leading some of WSP’s most complex and transformative programmes - shaping the way we design, deliver and create impact for the communities we serve.
💡 Magda Cockerill (on the right in the first photo next to David Williams from the team) leads work on the transformation of the National Biosecurity Centre - one of the UK’s most complex science infrastructure programmes – creating clarity, trust and space for innovation.
💡 Samantha Grant (on the right in the third photo with the California Crossroads team) is recognised for her human‑centred leadership, most recently demonstrated on California Crossroads, where she brought together diverse voices to create safer, more accessible and more vibrant spaces.
Together, they show what’s possible when leaders put people first.

🏆 Last week, during ‘Conference26’ - a two‑day leadership event bringing colleagues together from across the UK, Ireland and our Global Capability Centre - we came together for one of the standout moments of the year - the 2025 WSP Excellence Awards.
Across 14 categories, we celebrated the individuals, teams and projects who raised the bar this year - from technical brilliance and low‑carbon innovation to inclusive leadership, client partnerships, regional impact and future‑focused thinking.
Our winners and highly commended colleagues are shaping the future of WSP through their creativity, commitment and collaboration - and it was incredible to celebrate them together, midway through Conference26.
Hosted brilliantly by Rachel Cook and Patrick Stockwell (first photo), the night brought so much energy, pride and joy - especially thanks to the WSP Band who brought the soundtrack!

This November, colleagues all over the world took part in the @Movember challenge! 〰️
The month centred around three pillars: Get Growing, Get Moving, and Get Donating, all to raise awareness and funds in support of men's health and mental wellbeing.
As part of the challenge, each team walked, ran and cycled as much as they could, with colleagues in the UK and Ireland travelling 383 km! A number of our WSP run clubs even ran moustache shaped routes during the month!
Its fair to say they smashed it, working hard over the course of the month, culminating in some impressive facial hair and more than £6,000 fundraised!
Congratulations to all those who took part this month and grew their best facial hair for such a fantastic cause!

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
This free tool allows you to view Instagram Stories anonymously, ensuring your activity remains hidden from the story uploader.
Anonstories lets users view Instagram stories without alerting the creator.
Works seamlessly on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and modern browsers like Chrome and Safari.
Prioritizes secure, anonymous browsing without requiring login credentials.
Users can view public stories by simply entering a username—no account needed.
