This is our version: a magazine honoring the children whose lives were cut short by gun violence—the ones who never got the chance to turn 30. Through each profile, we share their dreams and their stories, told with the help of their parents. The illustrations capture their spirit, dreams, and personalities.

We’re giving a voice to the voiceless, because with enough advocacy, we can ensure no child’s story ends before it has a chance to begin.

All people have the right to worship, learn, and gather with their community in peace, and without fearing gun violence.

Following a performance of GUAC at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, Manuel Oliver, co-founder of @ChangeTheRef, joined legendary artist and activist Shepard Fairey for a post-show conversation moderated by hungryman director and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Bryan Fogel.

GUAC tells the story of Manny’s son, Joaquín “Guac” Oliver, who was killed in the 2018 Parkland school shooting at age 17. Through theater, storytelling, painting, humor, music, and activism, Manny transforms grief into an urgent call for action against gun violence. The show is truly unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before — powerful, personal, simultaneously heartbreaking and uplifting.

Together, Manny, Shepard, and Bryan spoke about art as activism, political frustration, hope, storytelling, and the power that creativity has to challenge apathy and inspire action.

The show is incredibly powerful. The conversation afterward was just as moving.

To challenge the tired political narrative that blames video games for gun violence, @BBDOChicago created a game that does the exact opposite: it educates players on life-saving legislation and holds elected officials accountable for inaction. By weaponizing the very medium being scapegoated, the project uses data and gameplay to debunk myths and demand real-world policy change.
