Weddings, graduations, birthdays – important moments call for gifts worth keeping. What began as a small Copenhagen silversmith workshop in 1904 is now a legacy of timeless design: @georgjensen’s objects are made not just for giving, but for passing from one generation to the next.

Modern living changes with time – and Hlynur Atlason (@atlasonstudio) is there, taking note. The NYC-based designer has carried a briefcase since design school, always packed the same way: camera, iPad, sketchpad, a really good pen. It’s a small habit that says something larger about how he operates. Wherever he is, he's paying attention. That consideration runs through everything he designs, and made him the perfect person to be DWR's first Design Resident.

The new Luce Sferica Pendant from @flos floats overhead “like raindrops clinging to a wire,” notes designer Ronan Bouroullec. Meaning “spherical light” in Italian, its hand-blown glass globes diffuse a cocooning ambient glow.

Originally conceived as a coffee table in the 1950s, the Otto Dining Table returns – reimagined by third-generation CEO Kirsten Møller and named for her grandfather, @j.l.mollersmobelfabrik founder Niels Otto Møller. Its defining detail: a handcrafted leg-to-tabletop joint, precision woodworking that has long defined the Danish maker.

In the late 1950s, artist and designer Harry Bertoia discovered the musicality of metal, and was inspired to weld sculptures that rang out and resonated when touched. This limited-edition Dandelion Sculpture comes from that period, originally exhibited at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York. The @harrybertoia Foundation has faithfully reproduced the shimmering stainless steel sculpture in a limited quantity of 50, each individually numbered and stamped for authenticity.

Vaulted ceilings, thick stone walls, light moving slowly across old plaster – at Palazzo Daniele, materials are allowed to speak. @glasitalia works the same way: cutting, fusing, and polishing glass to astonishing refinement. With its artful arrangement of smoked glass boxes, the Ratio Desk transforms work essentials into something worth looking at.

A curve is right when it’s right,” says Hlynur Atlason (@atlasonstudio). That certainty – accumulated and instinctual – made him a natural first for the DWR Design Residency. “I don’t see furniture as an exercise in form alone, but as a response to the way we actually live today.”

Instagram Stories geheim ansehen
