It's not often that J.Lo deviates from her signature glam; her makeup is all golden skin, fluttery lashes, glossy lips, and immaculately groomed brows. So at the premiere of her new film "Office Romance," when the multi-hyphenate stepped onto the red carpet with those feathery brows almost completely faded—we did a double-take. Whether this makeup look is a passing fling or here to stay is yet to be seen; either way, we love to see an unexpected makeup moment from one of our favorite, ultra-glamorous celebs.

Long before we were all talking about Barbie blush, before Olandria and some Real Housewives went viral for their draped flushes, Ngozi Esther Edeme, aka @paintedbyesther, was posting her work online, laying the foundation for her reputation as bold blush’s most fearless champion. While she never claimed to have invented transition shading, Edeme has played a huge role in bringing the look back and turning rosy cheeks into a cultural conversation.

That conversation is extra loud this week, but Edeme has been working to normalize a dramatic flush for nearly a decade, particularly on dark-skinned Black women, at a time when the dominant beauty trends were moving in the opposite direction.
