Electroacoustic Improvisation - Workshop with Valerio Tricoli
Saturday 20.6.26 and Sunday 21.6.26
11am - 4pm with breaks
at Morphine Raum
This two-day workshop will explore electroacoustic improvisation as a performative, compositional and relational practice.
Valerio Tricoli will guide participants through a series of individual and collective exercises focused on listening, interaction, sonic decision-making, and the construction of form in real time.
Designed for 12 participants with some prior experience in electronic or experimental music, the workshop is conceived as a practical laboratory in which instruments, technologies, aural and physical spaces, and bodies become active agents within a shared sonic environment. Participants are invited to bring their own instruments and performance setups — electronic, acoustic, hybrid, analog, digital, custom-built, or found-object based.
The workshop will conclude with a public presentation at Morphine Raum in Berlin. The final performance will function as an open and evolving collective system involving all participants together with Valerio Tricoli in a large ensemble configuration. Musicians will enter and exit the performance dynamically, generating shifting constellations of sound, density, and interaction.

Enrollment fee per participant 275€
Limited to Max. 12 participants

Benjamin Flesser - Modular Synthesizer
Building on my previous work with metastable networks of analog modular synthesizers in feedback with various organic systems, such as electron flow in plants or the activity of my brain regions, I aim to deepen my research into analog neural networks as feedback systems in order to develop new instruments and performance methods.
Of particular artistic interest to me is the exploration of different neuron models as a way to derive diverse functions, such as sound generators and modulators, from a large network of identical components, and to interconnect these functions. This represents an speculative approach toward an alternative to classical synthesizer models, or, to the standardized computer model (the von Neumann architecture), which consists of discrete units with fixed functions and more or less fixed interconnections.
Rather than focusing on the learning capacity of neural networks, I intend to leverage the transformability and material-specific properties of the circuits themselves.

Coding Musical Patterns - Algorithmic Composition, Generative Growth, and the Music of Math
Mads Kjeldgaard
Saturday 25.4.26 and Sunday 26.4.26
11am - 4pm with breaks
at Morphine Raum
A two-day workshop diving deep into the theory and practice of algorithmic composition. At the end of this workshop, participants will have a firm understanding of how to use code, math and numbers to write beautiful, living and complex music. The workshop has a theoretical part that mixes traditional music theory and geometry to create a new understanding of pitches, rhythm and harmony, and in the practical part we will harness the potential of this knowledge to write music using the programming environment SuperCollider. The target audience of the workshop include composers, musicians, sound and engineers and artists of all kinds, but no prior programming experience is necessary.
Mads Kjeldgaard is a composer and sound artist from Denmark. He works mainly in the fields of algorithmic composition and interactive sound art, using self-authored software and hardware, generative processes, patterns, biology, and sound environments to create dazzling sonic structures.
In 2024, he founded the platform Exformal Records for sound and listening-based thinking. He studied electronic music composition at The Royal Academy of Music (DIEM) and is a member of The Danish Composers’ Society.
His work has been commissioned by NyMusikk, Aggregate Festival, The Norwegian Centre for Technology and Art, The Ultima Contemporary Music Festival, Intonal Festival, Aggregate Festival and Lemur Ensemble among others. In 2019 he won a gold award at the International Spatial Audio Conference.
He has worked as a technician and developer at The Norwegian Center for Arts and Technology (aka Notam), and as a software developer for music instruments at Torso Electronics, among other things. He is an open source software contributor, and shares creative technology through hyaline.systems.
