🌊 In 2016, Changing Tides Foundation was born on the North Shore of Oʻahu, when our founders came together in a little house called the Henhouse with a big dream.

Not long after, the very first WOMP program was born in Panama — the seed of what would grow into a global movement.

We’re more than a foundation. We’re a sisterhood. A ripple effect of women rising, oceans healing, and communities thriving.

From teaching a woman to catch her first wave, to installing clean water systems in remote villages, to raising our voices for ocean protection — our mission is to empower women and protect the earth we all share.

Meet our Program Director, Arielle Katz 🌊

A lifelong surfer and ocean lover, Arielle’s connection to the sea began in Rosarito, Baja California—where she first experienced the healing power of the ocean, a thread that continues to guide her work today.

With a background as a therapist and surf therapy provider, she brings a thoughtful, grounded approach to Changing Tides—blending mental health, empowerment, and ocean-based learning into every program she leads. Her bicultural upbringing and global experiences shape the way she creates space for connection, identity, and growth.

Through her work, Arielle helps girls and young women build trust in themselves, their bodies, their intuition, and their relationship with the ocean.

When she’s not in the water, you’ll find her surfing, traveling, reading, crocheting, or spending time with her community—always rooted in creativity and care.

At Changing Tides, we continue working to create spaces where girls from all backgrounds can feel empowered, seen, and supported in the water.

A portion of all ticket sales will directly support Changing Tides and our work to enable young girls through education, community, and movement, regardless of financial circumstances.

Meet Lizzie, our Associate Director 🌊

Lizzie brings Changing Tides to life through storytelling and creative strategy—using her background in startups, marketing, social media, and content creation to inspire action and deepen connection to our mission.

A lifelong nature lover, she blends creativity with purpose in everything she does. Having witnessed firsthand how empowerment can transform a young person from the inside out, she’s especially passionate about helping girls find their voice, trust their power, and step into confidence.

That belief fuels her commitment to expanding access to community, growth, and the healing force of the ocean.

When she’s not working, you’ll find her surfing, spending time with her two dogs, cooking, reading, or pouring into her wellness-focused passion projects.
