From 14–23 May, during SPRING Performing Arts Festival in Utrecht,Daniel Kok and Luke George will transform Neude Square in Utrecht into Home Bound, a growing participatory installation made from rope, stories, movement and community.

Created during the SPRING Performing Arts Festival, the project brings together artists, craftspeople, local residents and visitors to collectively weave, knot and build a monumental installation.

Over ten days, communities from across Utrecht — from knitters and carpet weavers to circus artists, bell ringers and rope practitioners — will gather daily to share knowledge, stories and practices.

Participation is free and open to everyone.

📍 Neude Square, Utrecht

The timetable of Home Bound is here!

During SPRING, Neude transforms for 10 days into Home Bound as artists, craftspeople, and community groups weave diverse rope materials and their stories together to build a giant rope installation. As fibres intertwine, communities who do not typically share the same space collaborate in a choreography of knots that represents the social dialogue in the Netherlands. You’re invited to enter the woven landscape, witness the makers, learn their skills, hear their stories, or add your own hands to this growing tapestry, woven by and for Utrecht.

Creator Daniel Kok: “We’re very curious to see how the group of participants in Utrecht differs from that in Naarm/Melbourne, as the two places are very different. In any case, we expect that rope, weaving and social discussions about multiculturalism, human migration and the sense of belonging will be recognisable all over the world. And that the political message behind this work is, in this way, easy to understand, yet at the same time nuanced.”

🩷SPRING Performance Arts Festival - May 14-23
ℹ & 🎫 springutrecht.nl

Home Bound is a part of AECFest, a multidisciplinary public arts festival that alternates annually between Asia and Europe. In 2026, it will be presented as a festival-in-a-festival within SPRING, taking place from May 14 to 23. This edition marks the third consecutive year that AECFest is hosted within a major international festival platform, following editions in Italy (2024) and China (2025).

The Asia-Europe Cultural Festival (#aecfest2026) is organized by @asiaeuropefoundation with the financial support of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

STILL LIVES: BRISBANE
Luke George x Daniel Kok
Installation + Performance
Oct - Nov 2025
NIGHT FEAST and MELT Festival
Brisbane Powerhouse
Magandjin

Still Lives is a performance-installation series that captures – literally through rope bondage – significant moments or movements in relation to specific cultural contexts. Each edition of Still Lives is a durational, site-responsive, and context-specific process of binding bodies and cultural objects to their place. This approach allows new conversations to emerge and unveils narratives about local history, political tensions, social connections, and personal attachments.

Still Lives: Brisbane revisits the city’s legacy of punk and counterculture, specifically referencing The Saints and their renowned single (I’m) Stranded. Instruments are bound and suspended in intricate webs of rope high in the Turbine Platform of Brisbane Powerhouse. Still Lives: Brisbane is a sonic, sculptural invocation of punk’s defiance, a tribute to the band that pioneered the modern music scene in Brisbane, and a meditation on how history lingers in the air.

Lead Artists: @lukeandgeorge x @daniel_diskodanny
Sound Design: @enjay.are
Lighting Design: @katiesfet
Head Rigger: Helen Clifford
Videography: @jack.j.martin
Musicians (Models):
Luke “Lenny” Lennon (Guitartist, @dadfight420)
Teigan le Plastrier (Lead Singer & Guitarist, @beingjanelane)
Photography: Jack Martin, Sam Neil, PixelFrame, especiellieheinous

Still Lives is a performance-installation series that captures (with ropes) significant moments or movement in relation to specific cultural contexts. Each edition of Still Lives is a durational, site-responsive and context-specific process of binding cultural objects in their place.

For Glasgow, Still Lives enters the charged world of professional wrestling, a scene with deep local roots and fiercely loyal fans. The artists will lean into the city’s appetite for drama and physical theatre, exploring energy and inertia, movement and pause, kayfabe and the suspension (quite literally) of disbelief.

Collaborating with local wrestlers, they will re-stage the high drama and choreography of the ring, tying up their bodies mid-tackle and suspending them above the mat. The performance will be soundtracked live by Huntress: expect goth-metal textures, pulsing techno and strange, beautiful noise.

Supported by the National Arts Council (Singapore), Take Me Somewhere and Tramway.

Instagram Stories geheim ansehen
