Almost 27 years ago I started working at nuphonic records, and one of the first projects I was involved with was the debut live show from Faze Action.

Held at the long-gone Embassy Rooms on Tottenham Court Road the hype was massive around this show, packed inside and a huge guest list scrum outside.

Fast forward to last night and I can’t tell you how much of an (emotional) honour it was to have @faze_action play live here at Filly Brook with all the original band members from that 1999 show in the line up! Except of course Robin Lee who now lives in South Korea, we missed you Rob!

Last night was one of those special evenings, FB packed to the rafters again, loads of music heads in from those early nuphonic days, superb sound and a band that were simply on fire!

Much love and respect to Tuggy, Richard, Mikey, Zeke, Gizelle, Pete, Des, Pete Z and of course Simon Lee. ❤️

Their new album Distant Dreams is out today so go pick up the vinyl or get the digital.

It’s increasingly rare these days for an artist from the 80s to still have their master tapes but even rarer still for them to have the multitrack tapes.

Original studio tapes are now the holy grail when it comes to licensing old music so when you’re fortunate enough to dig them up the opportunity to remix and create new versions cannot be ignored.

Let The Moonshine In is one of these holy grails, a song that has laid untouched since its 1984 release. The original vinyl was a ghost to many collectors, a record that easily commanded hundreds of pounds if you could find a copy.

For us, the song first appeared on last years Everything You’re About To Hear Is True Volume 1 compiled by our good friends at the Rotation Garden Party. After an extensive search across Europe we finally found the original writer and producer Ms Jean-Marie Gogniat in rural Switzerland living somewhat oblivious to the demand for his 80s masterpiece yet still in possession of all his master tapes!

Fast forward to today and the Rotation family of artists, Chicken Lips, Mind Fair, T Kutt, Wrekin’ Havoc, have all remixed the original into this new Moondata remix package.

Ahead of the 29th May release date all the remixers descend on east London to launch the release on the late May bank holiday weekend at @fillybrook . It’s a free party with advance copies of the vinyl available to purchase on the day.

Tim is a chef, writer, and MasterChef champion. Born and raised in Wisconsin, he has spent more than two decades exploring Japanese food culture. He is the author of nine cookbooks, including the JapanEasy series, Hokkaido, the award-winning Tokyo Stories and Your Home Izakaya, the book he published just before his last FB visit.

For this latest dinner Tim has worked with Fumio creating a menu that reflects their mutual love and deep understanding of Japanese cuisine in all its forms.

Spaces are limited for this one and reservations are open now via the bio link and will include a welcome cocktail served on arrival.

Love Has Come Around takes over Filly Brook on 8th May.

A celebration of friendship via the music that bonded these women together, through nights out, late night afters and dancefloor shenanigans.

@trafford_dj is a dedicated selector who began her journey collecting records at the age of 4 and brings a lifetime of passion, rare grooves, and curated soulful selections to the decks.

@julietcrommers, one half of the celebrated Stow-Ho House events, is known for bringing the party and keeping the energy high on the dancefloor.

Expect a journey through disco, funk and rare musical finds, creating an atmosphere of connection.
