MIRROR OF TIME
.
A mind bending commission project from last year,@mirror.of.time.film by @schaeferstudios_ was an awesome film to work with and in many ways let loose on. I wanted to try and go super minimal and sparse with the design in a very 60s graphic style, trying to mimic a lot of the deliberate production design elements in the story. The clock idea came very easily, and it was fantastic to be able to make the title multifunctional as the hour hand. The electric blue is also another nod to the story, and helps keep the whole piece feeling modern. My favorite detail is the little clock face pips, I just think they're neat. 🕰️🪞

REMNANT
.
Poster commission for the tense and apt thriller @remnantfilm_ , written and directed by @petervaughan___ , and co-created and produced by @dunnermehn , which will be debuting at this years DIFF Festival. Wanting to give nothing away and establish a thick sense of dread and drama, we developed this key poster image as a way to establish the weight and pressure centered on our protagonist. The image, photographed by @leighpagephotographer , is dramatic and mysterious, and draws the eye into the scene, which has been built out to include subtle reflections through glass of our other cast. This contrasts an interior and exterior environment, and when finally noticed, can't be unseen. My favorite detail is the use of dappled, reflected light in the trees through the glass. 👤🚗

NEWTOWN BOYS
.
First commission post of the new fangled year of 2026, and starting off with a very special piece for @newtownboysfilm , an utterly heartwarming story about childhood friendship by the ever talented director/writer combo @niamhbrys0n and @_heatherosullivan , and produced by @em.powerfilms for @heritagefilmandtv . Establishing the time and place was the key challenge for the design, putting the two lead boys in a context where their differences were best shown. Eventually we decided on the place of their first meeting, the back of the car on the way to their shared room, with the coast of sunny, coastal Tramore seen in the background. I tried to preserve a lot of the analog quality in the film grabs and on-set stills by @joshua.mulholland to help really sell the soft, nostalgic quality of the film. Favorite detail for me is oddly enough the shape of the back window, which I spent needless free time researching to make sure it was period accurate. 🚗👥

HARD DAY LAST NIGHT
.
A super fun, super zany commission for my good chum @digdug_scattercramps for his film Hard Day Last Night, made as a part of a 48 hours film challenge. The film is a out-n-out parody of film noir's "day-drinking hardnose", where the detective realistically suffers from his incessant drinking while hot on the case. Following that tone, we developed a poster that harkens to the visual style of the piece while laying bare the parody. I loved the idea of using the classic noir-ish whisky tumbler, and found this neat image where Sebastian S. Leroux floats passed out on the ice cube - not exactly the smoldering, gritty hero type. My favorite detail is Leroux's detective fedora floating in the glass nearby. 🕵️🧊

SAVE ME FROM HEAVEN
.
Another great commissioned project for @seantreacyfilm and his short @savemefromheavenfilm . Set between a near-future reality and a digital one, the challenge of this project was to find the right balance in striking a sci-fi, drama, and thriller tone. We wanted to create an image that’s cinematic, but plays into the physical barriers between the two characters, and their search for each other, visuals through shallow focus, digital effects, and a cerebral ghosting kind of blur. My favorite detail is the use of the CRT effect in the trees. 🌍💭

THE GOOD FARMER AND THE FAILED SON
.
Another super commission project from earlier this year for the charming and good hearted film @thegoodfarmerandthefailedson , directed by @ailillmartin and produced by @weare_chaser . This was a great opportunity to illustrate a subject's personality and creativity in an image, bringing to life the many different sides of a person. I used practical paper cutout figures places onto a built scene of a field, and gave everything a saturated pop of color to bring out a playful, witty, and light hearted tone. Favorite detail I think are the cutouts themselves, not least of which because they took me ages to make. 👨🌾💃

WOULD YOU RATHER
.
A very moody commission piece for @wouldyouratherfilm , directed by @sophie_odonovan and produced by @aoibhin . It was great to work with a fantastic set of stills shot by @martinmaguirestills , which immediately caught the off-kilter, slightly insidious nature of the film. It came then to pairing the images with a title to match, something that was like the film and slightly... off. Messing around with the filling of the text, we landed on something nebulous and blurry looking to match the soft focus of the key art, which I think really compliments the mood we were after.

GRAPHITE ON CANVAS
.
Another more stellar commission project from last year; @graphiteoncanvas.film, Directed by @jakaprosenik and Produced by @hanasamii_. This piece was a great exercise in expressing tenderness and vulnerability while purposefully showing very, very little. I wanted the protagonist Martin to have this sense of shyness as he's being drawn, so we felt that his posture contrasted by a much larger hand works to highlight how bare he is, playing really nicely into the themes of the film. The rough, blush colored paper helps this as well I think. Favorite detail I think are the subtle body contours on Martin. ✏️🧘♂️

WAVE
.
Back to form with Wave, a design that I started in order to do something dark, moody, and ominous again. I imagine it as a sort of psycho biker thriller with a wacky experimental ending with something involving a storm and forest. I really liked bending the rules of lighting here to create nice silvery-blue hotspots to highlight areas of interest. Favorite detail is definitely the skull bandana. ☁️💀

TRASNA NA LÍNE
.
The second of my two commissioned posters for @acrossthelinefilm_ . As the sort of wacky aunt to the more official design posted last, we wanted something a lot more loud and audacious, giving the title loads more room to stand out against some fantastic portraits of the lead cast. Favorite detail with this one is the color work in the titles. 👓🥛

Stoked, thrilled, and otherwise jazzed to post my commissioned poster work for @acrossthelinefilm_ , a hilarious short film directed by @niamhbrys0n, written by @niamhbrys0n and @_heatherosullivan , and produced by the lovely folks at @reblisfilms. This idea was the end result of a super fun, creative process with the aim of making something simple and offbeat, but still bright and comedically toned. It was great to stage everything in this type of high ceiling composition, and I've very happy with it indeed! Favorite detail is the little yellow locker panels. 🔒🕊️

HALLWAYS
.
Lets begin 2025 with a concept I've been mulling over way back when in 2024. I wanted to do something with an 80's folk/ghost story twang but with some modern touches. I experimented a good bit with the source of light, whether it was a a lamp or torch or even a bare lightbulb. A candle seemed to fit in most seamlessly, and I liked how I was able to add some visual interest in with how it's tilted to one side. Fav detail is the doorframes, I think it's really what carries the whole idea through. 🕯️🚪
