Ben Tousley is a Brooklyn-based designer and art director whose work nimbly jumps from iconic record sleeves (for artists such as Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes) to magazine and editorial design (the fantastic Buds Digest) to fashion campaigns and on-screen graphics. He is a designer in the best sense of the word: his visual style varies from project to project — always hitting the mark in terms of feeling ideal for the project at hand — but upon closer inspection his personality shines through in elegant typographical moments or striking photographic manipulations.

Kevin Stebner (@revolutionwinter ) is an artist, poet and musician from Calgary, Alberta. He is also the proprietor of Calgary's best bookstore that's in a shed, Shed Books. His typewriter-based concrete poetry compositions are intricate, expressive and psychedelic, hearkening back to the groundbreaking work of Dom Sylvester Houedard while exploring totally new modes of expression. Kevin Stebner (@revolutionwinter ) is an artist, poet and musician from Calgary, Alberta. He is also the proprietor of Calgary's best bookstore that's in a shed, Shed Books. His typewriter-based concrete poetry compositions are intricate, expressive and psychedelic, hearkening back to the groundbreaking work of Dom Sylvester Houedard while exploring totally new modes of expression. For his contribution to LAY—OUT Stebner presents 39 new works (plus a 40th if you count both the intense mountainscape cover done entirely with underlines!) created entirely — laboriously! — by hand on various typewriters. These poems are a deep dive into nearly physical spaces, with expressive dollops, vast mechanical assemblages and the beginnings of whole new worlds that have been coaxed out of clunky machines of yesteryear.

Suzy Polinga.k.a. Pod Blotz ( @suz.pol.pod.blotz ) is a musician, artist, and photographer based in Los Angeles. Her volume, titled Geo Resequence, is a selection of experimental photographic, xeroxed, digitized, and painted collages that examine ways of transforming, restructuring, and cloning infrastructures through repetition. These works explore and minimal geometry, complex spaces, and cyclical patterns within nature, ecology, and geology during the daunting age of climate change. The use of 'Geo' in the title references geological time, geometry, geomancy, and geography. 'Resequence' refers to how the effects of human activity are resequencing planetary time — resulting in the collapse of human time and accelerating the need to redesign human structures to be in accordance with the earth system.
