Georgina Rodriguez wears custom Ludovic de Saint Sernin to attend the 2026 Costume Institute Gala celebrating the opening of the exhibition "Costume Art" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

In conversation with Georgina, I was struck by the intimacy of her faith, particularly her devotion to the Virgin of Fátima. The softness of the figure and the light blue tones that define her image became the foundation of the piece, translating spirituality into couture.

It features our signature eyelets and lacing, hand-painted to blend into the pale blue of the garment. The cups are made entirely from French blue lace, woven on traditional Leavers looms in Calais-Caudry, giving the fabric a fluid, almost weightless quality.

A sheer veil completes the look, finished with hand-embroidered lace flowers. Hidden inside the dress, placed next to her heart, two phrases are hand-embroidered in her native Spanish: "Donde ella está, el alma encuentra refugio" and "Y líbranos del mal amén." These words act as a private prayer, carried within the piece.

The look is accompanied by a custom rosary, conceived as both jewel and relic. Crafted in white gold and set with diamonds and pearls, it is engraved with the names of her family members—transforming it into an intimate object of devotion. The rosary extends the narrative of the look, where personal faith and exceptional craftsmanship meet.

In the context of Fashion is Art, the look reflects how faith, like art, can be expressed through form, detail, and emotion.

Tate McRae wears custom Ludovic de Saint Sernin to attend the 2026 Costume Institute Gala celebrating the opening of the exhibition "Costume Art" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This dress takes inspiration from the gilded statues adorning La Réale, the ceremonial boat of Louis XIV, preserved today at the Musée national de la Marine.

Handcrafted in Paris, the dress is constructed around a structured maille bloquée corset with boning, sculpting the body with precision. It is entirely overlaid in delicate French gold lace, woven on traditional Leavers looms in Calais-Caudry—an ancestral technique that gives the surface a fluid, almost living texture against the skin.

It extends into a dramatic train of cascading ruffles. The bra is meticulously covered in hand-applied gold feathers, creating a texture that feels both ethereal and armor-like. The piece plays on the tension between revelation and concealment, where the body is simultaneously exposed and veiled, sensual yet controlled.

Rooted in the symbolism of gold and the mythology of the Sun King, the dress evokes the idea of a "golden bath": a body immersed in light, power, and radiance.

Instagram Stories geheim ansehen
