Boston in April isn’t just a season, it’s a shift in frequency ☀️
The Public Garden finally exhales. After months chasing the blue hour through snow, there’s a specific challenge in capturing this level of dynamic range as the sun sets the lagoon on fire.
It’s a balance between razor-sharp retention in the shadows of the willows and letting the flare bloom over the swan boats.
Which frame captures the “Garden” feeling for you?
Save this for your next morning walk.

Definitely not my norm, this was my first time actually shooting a model and my first Sony Event 📸
Last week, the Sony Creative Space tour rolled into Sam Adams Park, and despite the New England drizzle, the community showed up in force. It’s one thing to see the specs of the Alpha 7 V on paper; it’s another to feel that real-time tracking lock onto a subject through a curtain of rain.
I spent the afternoon dodging puddles and hunting for those specific geometric frames that Government Center does so well. The way the overcast sky desaturates the brutalist concrete makes any pop of color like that deep teal suit or the vibrant red athletic gear hit twice as hard.
These frames are a testament to what happens when you stop worrying about the gear getting wet and start focusing on the reflection in the next puddle. Boston always rewards the photographers who don’t mind a little damp weather.
Did you make it out to the Sony event last Thursday? Drop a “📸” in the comments if you were on one of the photowalks.

Boston wakes up differently on Saturday mornings ⛵️
By 8am, the Charles was already full. Sailboats drifting near the Esplanade, rowing teams cutting through the water, and the skyline glowing under that clean blue sky we wait months for.
Hard to beat mornings like this around Boston.
What’s your go to summer spot in the city on weekends?

Friday hits different when the city is coming off a week like this ☀️
We just shattered May heat records with back-to-back days in the 90s, giving Boston a wild, unprompted preview of mid-summer energy. The second that heat hit, the entire city collectively migrated to the Charles River Esplanade.
Chasing this light meant balancing the brilliant pinks of the Kwanzan cherries against the deep blues of the water. Even with a cooler breeze settling in for the holiday weekend, that high-summer energy is still lingering on the docks. There is a specific rhythm to the Esplanade right now; a mix of running footsteps on the pavement, the rhythmic splash of Community Boating sails catching the wind, and the hum of Storrow Drive tucked behind the trees.

Boston hit 97° yesterday and will be in the upper 80°s today ☀️
The Public Garden was glowing by late afternoon. Swan boats sitting still on the lagoon, long shadows cutting across the grass, and that heavy summer light bouncing off the skyline. After months of gray mornings and cold wind off the harbor, the city finally looked warm again.
You could feel everyone slowing down for once. Benches full. Sidewalks packed. Windows open across Back Bay.
Days like this don’t last long in Boston, which is probably why they hit different.

☀️ Down in the Cape 🌊 and today was one of those slow coastal mornings that feels completely disconnected from the pace of Boston. Just waves rolling in, a weathered boat in the sand, and that kind of summer light you wait months for around here.
If today had a soundtrack, it’d sound like the ocean. Where’s your first stop when the weather finally breaks like this?

Boston finally looks awake again ☀️
The Public Garden has this short window every spring where the light hits just right. Wet paths from the early morning rain, willow trees turning green again, and cherry blossoms catching sunrise before the city heats up.
Crazy to think this weekend is pushing 75°+. After months of gray mornings, the whole city feels like it’s stepping back outside.
Which frame would you lead with, 1 or 2?

Friday, finally… 🙃
A little light, a little quiet, and a reason to slow down.
This is the kind of frame that feels like a pause button.
Warm sky, still water, and enough space to leave the week behind.
No rush, no noise, just a clean transition into the weekend.
Take the time, refill the tank, and come back better on Monday.
Happy Friday, and hope the weekend gives you a little room to breathe.

Rain changes the entire mood of the Maine coast 🌧️
Today at Nubble Lighthouse, the sky stayed heavy, the rocks turned slick and dark, and the tide pools carried this unreal green glow beneath the surface. No sunset. No clean light. Just cold Atlantic air and the sound of rain moving across the water.
York always feels different in weather like this. Less postcard. More New England.
Would you shoot the coastline in storms or wait for blue skies?

Boston finally remembered what spring feels like ☀️
The Public Garden looked almost unreal this morning. The swan boats lined up quietly, the willow trees starting to wake up, and that sharp early light cutting across the lagoon before the city fully clocked in.
Most people walk through here fast. The best mornings happen when you stop long enough to hear the water and watch the skyline catch fire behind the trees.

Boston changes after dark 🌙
The crowds clear out around North Station and suddenly the Harborwalk feels almost still. Just the glow from TD Garden bouncing off the water, docked boats rocking against the current, and every tower in the West End lit like its own stage set.
Shot this on the Sony A7RV with a 25 second exposure to stretch the reflections and pull every bit of color out of the harbor. The blue hour was long gone, but the city kept glowing anyway.
Which version of Boston do you prefer: the chaotic daytime city or this quieter side after dark?
