Reset! network
The European network gathering and supporting independent cultural and media organisations. Co-funded by the European Union.

@livedma 𝗮𝗻𝗱 @reset_network 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰
Behind many sold-out shows and major festivals, ownership structures remain largely invisible to audiences, yet they play a decisive role in who operates stages, how risks are shared, and where revenue flows.
The European mapping project on ownership concentration in live music aims to make visible who owns which stages and to situate this evidence within wider cultural and competition policy debates.
The two ownership maps do not claim to be exhaustive, but they make visible a reality that has long been overlooked. They invite institutions, professionals, and citizens to ask a simple question: when we buy a ticket for a festival or a concert, who do we really support, and what kind of ecosystem do we want for live music in Europe?

The time has come 🎙
We are very excited to introduce #TheEUBackoffice, a #podcast series by Reset! network and the European Network of Cultural Centres that unravels how the European Union really works and how it shapes our cultural and media landscapes.
Through expert interviews and debates with insiders, artists, and activists, host Matéo Vigné takes you on a deep dive into the world of EU #culturalpolicy, to shed light on who shapes the agenda, how the institutions work, and what challenges they face.
The pilot episode airs this coming Saturday October 11th at 16:00 CET, and Sunday October 12th at 11:00 CET on euradio.fr. Tune in for an introduction to the EU policy-making framework, with special guests Benjamin Feyen (EU policy expert), Olga Perez (European Parliament), and Georg Häusler (European Commission).

In 2026, more than 200 European music festivals are owned by just four major groups, according to a recent study published by the European networks @resetnetwork and @livedma, highlighting two maps produced by researcher Matthieu Barreira.
In Canada, a similar trend is unfolding, with one major player—Live Nation—accused of establishing a monopoly in the music sector.
This discussion is part of Nuits sonores Lab, the discourse programme by @nuits_sonores and @european_lab, and aims to build bridges between the two continents and explore possible courses of action to respond to growing threats to music diversity.
This panel talk is organised as part of the Reset! Live Podcast series.

Reset! is taking part in the French campaign « 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 » (𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰) @plusquelamusique gathering music venues, festivals, radios, show runners, labels and more, to 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿.
Together with @deconcert, @la_fedelima, @indiesfirst, @ferarcok and @syndicatdesmusiquesactuelles, we defend the idea that beyond offering concerts, albums, tours and radio content, our contribution is also cultural, social and grounded in local artistic scenes and lived realities.
In the recent years, we have observed some concerning trends: production costs soaring, public funds being seriously reduced and multinational firms taking over the sector. We believe that 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 means defending diversity, curiosity, proximity, accessibility, emergence and collective commitment.
This contribution to the campaign follows our work 𝗺𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿. Together with network Live DMA, we have recently published two maps to make visible who owns which stages and to situate this evidence within wider cultural and competition policy debates.

These two maps will be presented at @gaitelyrique on 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟲𝘁𝗵, 𝗮𝘁 𝟳:𝟬𝟬𝗽𝗺.

Through workshops, panel discussions, screenings and artistic performances, we collectively reflected on how an ethical approach of digital can be developed by the independent cultural and media sectors.
Throughout the day, participants were invited to move through three key-venues for the Athenian independent cultural scene: the Goethe Institut, TAF / The Art Foundation and Romantso.
Thank you to the venues who hosted us, to our inspiring speakers and artists, as well as to everyone who joined us to make this event so fruitful.
