One of the most talked-about tables in Minneapolis right now tells a much bigger story.
At Diane’s Place, chef Diane Moua draws on the Hmong traditions she grew up with, like nqaj npua tsawg, a slow-cooked pulled pork once reserved for special occasions, and brings them onto the menu in a way that feels intentional.
Across the menu, that perspective carries through, with dishes rooted in Hmong heritage alongside a style of cooking shaped by Moua’s training and life in the U.S. The result is a restaurant that feels personal and evolving, reflecting how culture is preserved, adapted and shared. Chef Eric Ripert (@ericripert) and Executive Chef Anthony Gray (@agray2384) of Le Bernardin (@lebernardinny) nominated Aditya because they see something special in him: thoughtful, detail-oriented, and always asking questions. He’s young and still has a lot to learn, but he’s humble enough to embrace it. They admire the pride he takes in his Nepali heritage and his excitement to share it with the world. And you can tell they can’t wait to see what Aditya will do next.
Outside of the kitchen, he’s constantly cooking, hosting pop-ups, and finding new ways to express his perspective. With each dish, Aditya is becoming more deeply immersed in the culture of food and shaping a voice that’s entirely his own.
