somewhat hurriedly writing this, using old photos, a few days later than i hoped to launch this year’s mother’s day flower offering. and i think these circumstances actually reflect motherhood (or my experience so far) in the most accurate way.

people say mothers make the greatest sacrifice. and while that’s probably true, the word sacrifice always held some negative weight to me. as if we give up so much and don’t get much back. while my post is delayed and less beautifully curated than i’d like, and the time i have to craft the perfect arrangement somehow vanished, it’s been in exchange for a baby who smiles at me the second he sees my face no matter what. for renewed gratitude of every tree that seems to mesmerize him as we walk by.for the “how old is your baby” exchange between strollers which isn’t nosey as much as it is a tiny act of solidarity. only we know how exciting it is to answer that question.

this year we celebrate the cohort of new mothers in the throes of redefining their identity, time, relationship to work, jean size (god dam!!!), and sources of joy.

also, to all the women who are trying to become mothers i think about you every single day. as much as i celebrate this world i stumbled into, my heart goes out to you just the same.

anyways. sapparoo today but sometimes ya gotta do it. whites yellows creams for mother’s day this year. simple pure and fresh✨

studio time looks different these days. i used to have a rule: no designing if the suns not up. whether it was the artificial light or the the ungodly working hours, i decided it wasn’t conducive to the right quality of design or life. learning now how much of a privilege that was !

my sweet boy is 3 months old so gone are the days of 5hour naps at the studio. i don’t know if it’s the smell or the temperature or the cement floors but he could be in the deepest nap & wake up shortly after arriving to the studio now.

so last night, when his dad was home and after dinner was served, i broke my rule of 6+ years and went to the studio in the dark. i spent 2 hours getting ahead of a project for the weekend. i kept wanting to call it quits, but i figured if i just got it done i’d feel so much better.

when i was done with what i had to do, instead of going home, i found myself throwing together one more chaotic pile of leftovers (shown here). no thoughts, more of an end of day sloppy brain drain. and u know what i fuckin love it. woke up this morning and still love it.

so here it is. a celebration of this new way of life i find myself in. beauty in the chaos, as always. and yes we hired a nanny..she starts next week 🩵

so eager and intimidated and inspired as we begin to host a 12 week program for the artists way at our studio. thank you to @thecasual.creative for facilitating and for allowing me to participate alongside everyone. time to let it rip 🧠

i’ve been craving a mono-botanical wedding installation and/or tablescape recently. this is a throwback to our all-boug ceremony with the baskets overflowing with single floral types. but maybe a full jasmine arch moment would shock the system? open to it ☎️

part 2 - the studio lighting in a pristine backdrop vs the natural evening light out. it’s dreamy to envision a design in your head under perfect scenarios and another reality to build something that can withstand a heat wave with a full complex surrounding environment. both beautiful in their own ways

a roundup of some of the deliveries from last week / a series of love notes, birthday wishes & a super sweet last minute apology bouquet.

its always a trip to show up at someone’s door arrangement in hand - it’s not always the grand romantic overflow of joy you’d expect… they’re usually extremely confused but eventually it clicks and they’re stoked. or we get a text 6 mins later overflowing with gratitude. all part of this special job

introducing: friends of the studio. a series of neighborhood hangs, late night pours, and the people we love. first up for this year: a block party with kwame’s pickle party

kwame’s a man of many talents but this month we’re celebrating his world famous pickle back shot. these were coined famous in a hollywood dive bar & now we’re bringing them to the west side. i’ve had many myself, they were an undeniable hit at my wedding, and the verdict is the people need to taste.

join us for a taste of pickle back shots, martinis, and pickle beer along side some reggae, soul, and ska house tunes to shut down the sidewalk block party style.

3-6pm 3/28 - link in bio to rsvp

Instagram Stories geheim ansehen
