So... I finally released my podcast this week 🎧👀

After a wild, painful season back in 2019 - fighting and loosing my dad to cancer, working 10-12/hr days on two feature films for over 18 months during that fight, resigning my full-time job to freelance, and a whole heap of hectic seasons that left me... completely maxed and anxiety ridden at the end of 2020. My third child (second boy) had just been born, and I was completely overwhelmed with the internal pressure I was feeling - “Do I have what it takes to do this all.” I had nothing left in the tank. I told Hayley at one point, “I feel like an amorphous blob.” No purpose, and no strength to push on.

But, God met me in my pain and brokenness. I felt like I had known the friendship & power of Jesus and the Holy Spirit in my life, but I didn’t really know him as Father. And in the place of having lost my earthly father, he wanted to encounter me with his lovingkindness in a way I had never experienced.

So, I dug deep into the Scripture for months, and allowed him to Father me through my “dark night of the soul.” Those early morning newborn bottle-feed moments were my time to lean in and let Him lead me through each day. One day at a time. I found myself writing and journaling extensively in my devotional time as He spoke revelation that was my daily bread. The Word came alive again to me.

Fatherhood Fables was birthed out of my experience of being fathered by God, and also my desire to be a present, connected dad. That was one of the main reasons I went freelance four years ago - to be with my kids more in everyday life.

This podcast & blog is about sharing the stories of strong fathers. I know there is a lot already said about fatherhood, and I may not ever have the most profound or original wisdom to give, but that doesn’t matter. I’m just being faithful with what He has called me to do, and be. Links to listen are in the bio, thanks for checking it out!

This warm winter weather is calling for some family hot tub chilling ☀️

Went to see “Sing 2” with Libby and Aiden today, and it did not disappoint! All of us laughed, cheered, and I know I definitely cried at least twice. The soundtrack is now on repeat in our house & car. It’s a great story for all ages, including us dads 😉 Well done @universalpictures!
