Not only the strongest person I know
but the one who stood by with her
unbending support when I needed it.
This photo could have been taken yesterday.
Her always on the go energy and never ending curiosity has kept Lisa youthful with a childlike energy in her eyes, like the one I luckily caught in the camera.
I’m a very lucky man.

Just after I shot Tim Blake Nelson
he sat with co-stars Kerri Russell and Edward Norton. It must been something funny I said. They were promoting Tim’s film ‘Leaves of Grass’ at Tiff, and shot for Screen International.

I watched today’s birthday boy
Tim Blake Nelson on The Daily
Show a few months ago talk
about his latest novel ‘Superhero’ and how working on film sets for
over 40 years inspired his latest
work and America’s relationship
wth the superhero narrative.
I was also able to spend a few minutes with Tim on the all windowed top floor of The Park
Plaza years ago when shooting for Tiff. Being so relaxed and easy going he made it easy to capture this great story.We also chatted about his new film ‘Leaves of Grass’, which he wrote, directed and stars along with Kerri Russel and Edward Norton.

Today, I’m thinking vetren actor
Raoul Max Trujillio is probably
where he told me he loves best,
on horseback.Most likely up on
the Caja del Rio Plateau, or around Bishop’s Lodge this special day.
A birthday is the time to be near
home and with friends.
Raoul has a busy year coming up
with a few projects just completed,
oneEl Tigre, hitting screens this year.
Whenever I see this story Raoul created on our day, I’m reminded of Chloé Zhao’s masterpiece, and my favourite film of hers, ‘The Rider’.
I think these two would do beautiful work together when I hope Ms. Zhao returns to her roots in the American south west to tell a new story. She got her start there after graduating from NYU.
Also would love to sit and have a few cold ones after a ride with Raoul and have him tell me the adventures he had working with another of my film heroes Terrence Malick, when shooting ‘The New World’. And also the trouble he and Auggie got up to reuniting since 1991’s Black Robe.

Happy birthday to one of the
smoothest cats to be in front
of my lens Paul Gross. I was lucky
to get a few minutes with him when shooting a full session with his wife Martha Burns in the days of film.
After seeing his mighty work in
2023 on the Stratford stage on
King Lear’s opening night, it’s great
to see Paul getting behind the
camera again.
His film ‘Talking and Killing’ which
he wrote, will direct and produce
is in development with Triple 7 Films.

Thanks to my bro David who found
this dreamlike moment with my two daughters, Madison and Darcy in
our dad’s old bureau along with hismodel trains.
Darcy in my arms, and based on the
flowers in Madison’s hand, and her age,
It looks like my wife Lisa took this in mid 90’s just after we all went flower picking up north at Aintree TP on the shores of Lake Huron in Kincardine.
