Ancient Methods returns with his first EP in three years. On “Society of the Spectacle”, we find seven pieces, some of them short, radio play–like sound sketches that draw on Guy Debord’s visionary book of the same name as the conceptual template for selected sonic interpretations.

While Ancient Methods’ previous releases already incorporated subtle commentaries on his immediate surroundings, “Society of the Spectacle” dissects microscopic fragments of the text, holding them up like a magnifying glass to illuminate the book’s prophecies as they have materialized in contemporary reality.

Musically, however, the EP feels liberated from any attachment to the spirit of the times—almost anachronistically Ancient Methods. Aside from the near-euphoric moments of “Burn The Frame” this may well be the most introverted work of his oeuvre: far removed from sensationalism, yet without paying homage to conservative minimalism.

One of my most memorable night in 2025 was my first all-night-long set at @essaimparis // this Friday it‘s that time again - hope to see many familiar and new faces!

@ancientmethods, founder of the Persephonic Sirens label, has been a steady force in electronic music for almost two decades. Known for his signature «pitch black techno war funk», he breaks genre barriers in his DJ sets and remixes for artists like Yello, The Soft Moon and Die Wilde Jagd. From Berghain, Tresor and RSO to ADE, Atonal, Dekmantel and his residency at Khidi, he consistently explores the darker, experimental edges of club culture.
Local support for the night by @mardbaku residents.

@ancientmethods, Persephonic Sirens leyblinin yaradıcısı kimi, təxminən iyirmi ildir ki, elektron musiqi səhnəsinin sabit fiqurlarından biridir.
