In March we’re opening the doors to a major exhibition dedicated to Franco Vaccari (Modena, 1936–2025), a key voice of postwar and conceptual Italian art. Bringing together photographs, videos, artist’s books, and archival materials, the exhibition explores Vaccari’s environments as the core of his practice. Conceived for what would have been his 90th birthday, it marks his first major institutional exhibition in Italy in over a decade.

Workshop on typographic destruction as a generative act for new abstract forms of writing
A more experimental and less conventional approach to teaching can stimulate curiosity toward “unknown territories”, spaces where one can become a protagonist, define new rules, and discover unexpected results. This type of knowledge arises from direct action and trial-and-error processes, where there are neither mistakes nor definitive solutions.
It’s about destroying in order to rebuild, about exploring typographic anatomy through de-construction.
What can an A become if it’s cut up and reassembled into a new form? Is this new form still recognizable as an A?
What may seem like a playful activity of destruction and recomposition is, in fact, a method of analyzing typographic anatomy and a form of free experimentation. The amount of black, the broken lines, the curves, the filled and empty spaces are all overturned, acquiring new visual meanings.

A more experimental and less conventional approach to teaching can stimulate curiosity toward “unknown territories”, spaces where one can become a protagonist, define new rules, and discover unexpected results. This type of knowledge arises from direct action and trial-and-error processes, where there are neither mistakes nor definitive solutions.
It’s about destroying in order to rebuild, about exploring typographic anatomy through de-construction.
What can an A become if it’s cut up and reassembled into a new form? Is this new form still recognizable as an A?
What may seem like a playful activity of destruction and recomposition is, in fact, a method of analyzing typographic anatomy and a form of free experimentation. The amount of black, the broken lines, the curves, the filled and empty spaces are all overturned, acquiring new visual meanings.

Plus we did some fine-tuning on the existing glyphs and added new ligatures like rt and gj, extra monetary units, the ə and the asterisk on x-height and uppercase! Grotta (2.0) has landed! 💥
Our long-loved irreverent neo-grotesk typeface just got heavier and slanted! We added 2 more weights (Black and Heavy) to the family and designed the italic. Plus we did some fine-tuning on the existing glyphs and added new ligatures like rt and gj, extra monetary units, the ə and the asterisk on x-height and uppercase!
