𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟏𝟔 𝐌𝐚𝐲: Contemplate Technology at the 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐖𝐡𝐲? 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Everyone has a personal relationship with technology, one that is carried in the technological objects we admire and use. We’re curious about yours.
Bring a technology that fascinates you (maybe this is a microcontroller, or a spool of thread), and we’ll exhibit your curio in the 🏛️ 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲.
The Museum will accompany ten thoughtfully crafted presentations: from the message board to the massage machine, we’ll come together to discuss how we shape tech and how it shapes us.

🪢 𝓷𝓪𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝔀𝓮𝓪𝓿𝓮 : 𝓬𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓵𝓸𝓸𝓶 𝔀𝓸𝓻𝓴𝓼𝓱𝓸𝓹
Digital privacy is encoded in complex numerical sequences, cryptographic keys that are legible to computers but challenge human memories.
RSA randomart images solve this problem by representing these keys through ASCII text characters on a grid. Instead of comparing long hex strings, users rely on familiar visual patterns to notice changes or irregularities.
Echoing the form of threads on a loom, these image representations reference precursors to modern computational processes, such as the Jacquard loom and punch cards.
Join @ashleyzhiqi on 3 May, Sunday, for 𝓷𝓪𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝔀𝓮𝓪𝓿𝓮, a workshop where we’ll “naively” weave our own RSA randomart to create tactile artefacts of memory hidden in structure and pattern.

𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐖𝐡𝐲? 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is a gathering to collectively contemplate and reimagine our relationship with technology.
We’re calling for curious 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 to:
𖢻 Question our cultural fixation on narrow notions of technology
𖢻 Unearth diverse technologies that deserve the limelight
𖢻 Explore knowledge sharing beyond one-way formats like academic papers and Powerpoint presentations
We’re looking for 𝟕-𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 that inspire delight, treat the medium as the message and are accessible to a broad audience. Need more time? A small number of 15-minute presentation slots are available.
