The Hollywood Reporter India (@hollywoodreporterindia calls it "a small film with a big soul," praising the film as poignant proof of a region and its people being beautifully, defiantly alive and the resilience of its young characters' friendship as the beating heart that carries the story.

Boong follows a mischievous young boy in Manipur who sets off on an adventure to bring his long-absent father home as a surprise for his mother, culminating in an unexpected, life-changing discovery.

This year, New York Indian Film Festival presents @boong_film , a BAFTA Award-winning debut that beat two major contenders produced by Disney to claim the prize.

Drawing from her own childhood memories of growing up in Northeast India, filmmaker @lp_devi weaves a bittersweet tapestry of sights, sounds, and smells unique to Manipur.

It is a story where the scent of firewood smoke evokes a mother's embrace and the vibrant greenery of the land serves as a backdrop to a deeply personal exploration of home and belonging.

The film features moving performances by @gugun_kipgen_official , Sanamatum, and @balahijam capturing the delicate nuances of friendship and familial bonds.

Devi, who brings her extensive experience as a First Assistant Director on landmark productions like PK, Talaash, and A Suitable Boy, will attend the screening and participate in a post-screening discussion.
