4th Semester Performance August 2025
In my latest semester project I took a journey back into the time of 2010-2016 and snuck myself into passageways and rooms of pop culture my childhood-self never allowed herself in to. It’s an era that is currently heavily reminisced, as time has faded its memory and left us with a blurry, washed-out idea, like an old sun-bleached banner advertising something that you know never looked like in the pictures.
I was very immersed in Western media from ever since my parents bought me my first iPod touch. However, I was fast to learn that this feeling of connection was not mutual, an unrequited love for a culture that wasn’t mine after all, nor was it interested in my culture. As a result I found myself glamourising certain aspects of a lifestyle that I never saw me, or someone like me, a part of.
