Techne DTP
Welcome to the Techne AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership offering scholarships and training in London and the South-East

'Indigo dyeing as embodied practice'.
Viveca Mellegård is a Techne-funded research student in partnership with @kewgardens and @royalholloway , and her work uses an ethnographic approach to document and visualise embodied practice - the tacit knowledge and skills – embedded in the cultivation and production of natural indigo dye in Bengal, India.
She’s working within the Economic Botany Collection at Kew, but is currently in West Bengal, India with a group of indigo farmers who have just harvested their latest crop and are now dying with the freshly picked Indigofera leaves.
You can hear more about her work on the @technepodcast

Hello! We’ve been quiet around here, but inspired by the Place and Space conference we thought we would start creating a space and place for our Techne community on this platform.
We can’t make any promises yet as we navigate the world of Instagram, but we want to showcase you and your work. If you would like us to share anything: tag us, make us a collaborator on your posts or email us a suitable image with caption at techne@rhul.ac.uk
