@menulog Delivery Jackets 🧡

Vert was engaged by brand agency Inku to design a new rider jacket for Menulog that combines safety, function and a stronger sense of identity for delivery drivers.

The project set out to rethink the role of the modern delivery driver - creating a jacket that feels professional, elevated and human-centred while meeting high-visibility safety standards.

Inspired by the respect associated with roles like milkmen and flight attendants, the design aimed to bring greater dignity and presence to workers who are such a visible part of everyday city life.

The jacket needed to support the realities of daily riding, with storage for essential accessories and functionality tailored to phones, vehicles and insulated delivery bags.

It was also designed for Australia’s varied conditions - from heat, dust and wind to heavy rain - making comfort, durability and weather protection central to the outcome.

Vert identified key opportunities that evolved into three distinct concepts, with Inku leading the final brand direction and manufacturing alongside Menulog to bring the jackets into production.

Pictured are prototypes featuring the Vert Team.

Why we created A Guide to Symbiocene Design with our partners @gooddesignaus & @vertdesignstudio:

→ Design must reconcile human needs & desires with planetary limits not treat them as separate.

→ To do this a shift is needed from dominating nature to partnering it.

→ Symbiocene design is life-centred design, widening the lens to include nature’s systems and future generations.

→ Symbiosis is the foundation, all life is interconnected and relies on mutually beneficial relationships.

→ Symbiocene design moves beyond harm reduction to create net-positive outcomes for all life.

Hip-healthy baby floor and booster seat by @hip_and_co

Founder Bree created hip & co after her first child was diagnosed with hip dysplasia - an under-recognised condition that affects around 1 in 10 babies with hip instability, with around 1 in 100 requiring treatment.

Through this experience, Bree discovered there were no suitable local products designed to properly support healthy hip positioning - only DIY solutions and a limited number of options overseas.

We worked closely with Bree to design a seat suitable for babies undergoing treatment for hip dysplasia, as well as those simply needing better hip support.

The design process included in-depth research, concept development across form and key features, collaboration with experts, extensive prototyping, user testing, and optimisation for manufacturing.
