Der deutsche Text ist in den Kommentaren.

A friend of mine is a refugee from Afghanistan and is looking for an Ausbildung place in Berlin as a Kfz-Mechatroniker, starting this autumn.

He is talented, experienced, and motivated, but so far keeps getting rejected. Sadly, racism and Islamophobia are playing a huge role.

If you know a workshop, have contacts, or can recommend him somewhere, please reach out directly:

Email: Shahirarya54@gmail.com

Please share and repost to help reach more people.

Solidarity is not just a word. It means showing up when someone is being excluded.

It’s been a while since I did some self promotion, so here’s a little reminder that I do a lot of different things and some of it might be relevant for you or someone you know. 🤍

If you want to support my work, here are a few ways:
•Buy my work. Buy my zines. Buy my postcards. Buy my art prints. I've been told that it is super cool and trendy to have original pieces on your walls these days. Definitely better than mass produced pictures from factories.

•Book me for workshops (especially at universities, since they have budget allocated specifically for things like this! You work or study at university?just ask them to book me)

•Support me monthly on Patreon and you'll get so much of my work via actual physical mail. There are also free options.

•Commission me to draw and paint things for you (I do animal portraits, but I also illustrated other people's books, created original pieces and designed soooo many tattoos)

•Share my work and spread the word. Just pressing repost and sharing it in your stories might help someone who is interested to see my work. Including links to my shop or patreon helps even more.

Thank you for being here and being interested in my work and what I have to say. 🖤🐾
I know time with so many budget cuts when it comes to culture and art and AI being seen as an easy way to replace an actual blood and bones and sweat that goes into art, we all are struggling to survive in art world. So thank you even more for stopping by 💕

Today is World Day for Animals in Laboratories.

For most people it is just a date. For Ragis it is a reality he survived.

He carries a history we will never know. Endless eperiments, pain, substances that were never meant for a body like his. And still he is here. 🤍 Soft. Trusting. Loving. Alive.

There are so many animals who never get that chance. Who never leave those cruel rooms and cages. Who are never seen as individuals, only as tests, only as numbers.

Ragis is not a test. He is a person. He has feelings, fears, joy and a deep will to live.

Today is about refusing to accept this as normal.
About choosing compassion over convenience.
About recognizing that no life should be treated as expendable. If you still use products tested on animals, please, please stop.

For bestest boy Ragis. For every being still waiting to be seen. ❤️

Open Call: Barriers and the City - Collaborative Zine Workshop

Are you a young person with a mobility disability living in Berlin? Do you want to explore how the city makes you feel included, excluded, at home, or not?

This collaborative Zine Workshop will use writing, collage, and drawing to share experiences of the city in a creative and collective way. We want to create space for our lived experiences of disability, urban barriers, and belonging as well as questions about how our emotions shape our experience of urban spaces.

The workshop is part of a bachelor’s thesis project about the sense of belonging among young people with mobility disabilities in Berlin. The zine created during the workshop will be used as part of the research. All participants will be anonymised.

The zine created during the workshop will be printed and later exhibited as part of the Long Night of the Sciences in Berlin.

The workshop will include breaks and a relaxed pace. No previous experience with zine making or art is required.

Accessibility: The building has a lift and is wheelchair accessible. There is also a wheelchair accessible toilet in the building.

We will require testing. Tests will be available at the venue and masks will be provided if wanted.

Register: Link in bio or DM me.

————————————————————————————

About the Facilitators:

Isa (she/they): Sociology student, Zine-enthusiast, and artist living with a physical disability and chronic pain. Through their research they’re trying to diversify and queer research methods and contribute to discussions about the felt dimension of urban landscapes especially in the context of people living with mobility disabilities.

Lex (they/them): Disabled artist and zine maker based in Berlin and a disability justice advocate. Their work explores disability, vulnerability, care, and emotional life through drawing, writing, and self publishing. They are interested in zines as a way to share lived experiences, challenge ableism, and create spaces where disabled voices can speak for themselves. They are often accompanied by their support dog Ragis.

And!!!!
Every year I make a birthday zine for Ragis to celebrate his life in freedom. This year it’s full of photos, his rules for being human, and even a playful quiz "Which Ragis Mood Are You Today?"
A dog who gives unconditional love and brings joy wherever he goes, his life is proof that freedom matters. 🤍🐾

A glimpse into some of the art I have been making this autumn. 🖤

This season has been full of inspiration and reflection, and I poured that into these pieces. I hope they resonate with you in some way. If you feel drawn to any of them you can check them out and bring them into your own space too🍁

This season has been full of inspiration and reflection, and I poured that into these pieces. I hope they resonate with you in some way. If you feel drawn to any of them you can check them out and bring them into your own space too🍁

Soo, Ragis has been doing physiotherapy for the last couple of months, both with physiotherapist and at home. This is the video explaining a little bit about it.

Thanks for building the ramp goes to @willowwoodwork

Text from the video:

Ragis lives with a permanent neck condition caused by a prolapsed disc. Physiotherapy helps him manage his condition long term and prevent it from worsening, while supporting his overall health. Balance board training improves core strength and body awareness. For Ragis, it helps protect his spine and reduce strain on his neck. Ragis is making a great progress and is loving the exercises.

The varying textures on the orthopedic sensory mat stimulate the nerves in Ragis’ paws. This helps rebuild neural pathways and supports his rehabilitation. Using a ramp to access my bed prevents jumping, which could strain Ragis’ neck. This daily adjustment helps protect his spine and manage his condition long term.
Even with some lifestyle adjustments, like no more playing catch, Ragis is thriving and is SO happy.

On my birthday weekend I’ll be tabling at @cakesnzines in Berlin, on the 6th and 7th September at Stadtwerkstatt near Mehringdamm. On Saturday it starts at 3pm, and on Sunday at 12pm. It’s a COVID-conscious event, so please make sure to test at home and wear your mask.

If you’re in the city, I’d love if you stopped by. We can share some vegan cake, and you can check out my zines and art, or maybe even get some, if you’d like. I’ll also have some new zines with me this time.

This festival feels very special to me. Every time I’ve tabled at Cakes and Zines it has been such a warm experience, and it often feels like really my space. For everyone who knows me and my passion for independent publishing, zines, art, and community, it feels so fitting that this event happens to fall on my birthday.

It would mean a lot to see the people who have supported me and my work over the years. And if you’ve never picked anything up from me before, you are of course very welcome just to come by and say hi.
