Today marked the conclusion of a week-long deployment by the Delaware County Department of Emergency Services Field Communications Unit at the 2026 PGA Championship hosted at Aronimink Golf Club.
Throughout the championship, a team of 12 ECC FieldComm Operators worked many hours managing and coordinating critical communications for public safety operations surrounding one of the region’s largest sporting events. Their professionalism, dedication, and technical expertise helped ensure seamless interoperability and coordination between numerous public safety agencies throughout the week.
This deployment highlighted the importance of advanced planning, regional cooperation, and strong partnerships between local, county, state, and event personnel. The Delaware County Department of Emergency Services is proud to have supported the safe and successful operation of this international event. Additionally, this deployment also highlighted Delaware County’s new P25 Public Safety Radio network and was the first large multi-day event utilizing the new system and it proved to be excellent! The new P25 emergency communications radio system was launched in December of 2025.

The Delaware County Department of Emergency Services is proud to announce the appointment of Gary Vinnacombe as its new Director.
With more than 20 years of experience in public safety, Gary has built a distinguished career focused on strengthening emergency response systems, collaborative partnerships and supporting the delivery of high quality emergency services to the community.
Gary served as Deputy Chief of Emergency Medical Services at Union Fire Company #1 in Oxford, Pennsylvania, where he oversaw both the administrative and operational functions of the EMS division. Earlier in his career, Gary spent more than a decade as Deputy Chief of EMS at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, where he managed day-to-day EMS operations.
In addition to his operational leadership, Gary is actively involved in statewide EMS initiatives. He serves on the Board of the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council and has held numerous leadership roles within the Chester County EMS Council.
Gary holds a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Fire and Emergency Services from Anna Maria College, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University.

As the winter storm winds down, we want to give ashoutout to the DES team at Delaware CountyDepartment of Emergency Services.
Emergency Communications stepped up with extra staffing to keep things running smoothly, and DES Facilities was out in full force clearing snow and making sure the building was safe for everyone. Long hours, cold conditions, and zero complaints just solid teamwork. ❄️💪❄️

Emergency Communications stepped up with extra staffing to keep things running smoothly, and DES Facilities was out in full force clearing snow and making sure the building was safe for everyone. Long hours, cold conditions, and zero complaints just solid teamwork. ❄️💪❄️
