The beauty and wonder of what lay ahead rekindled the spirits, and we moved out of Sedona on a long 28km section with 926m of elevation through the crown Jewel of Sedona - The Hangover Trail. With breathtaking views the whole climb up, we cruised across the plateau, taking it all in and feeling every step, moved by relentless forward motion, passing other runners, even sharing a mile or two with Sally McRae @yellowrunner before hitting the water station.
Once the beauty of Sedona was behind us, the reality of what had just ensued set in again. The legs were battered, and the pain returned. A long, winding fire track led us to the next aid station, which felt like it would never end. We finished the section as we started, with spirits high and unrelenting determination to see it through.
