Today, Bulgaria remembers her freedom. 🇧🇬

After five centuries of darkness, a people rose - with rusty blades, shaky legs, heavy hearts yet spirits burning.
Not only to reclaim their home, but their identity, dignity, freedom.
To choose resurrection.To remember who they are.
Sons and daughters of a mighty land.

But this is not just one nation’s history. This is a human story.

Every soul on earth, past and present, has walked through adversity.
Every people has faced opposition. It’s the price of standing in true identity.
It’s the battle truth requires to shine in a broken world.
And every true fight for freedom begins within. A fire that sets the world around ablaze.

Blood Tax was born from that fire -
from the truth that identity is indelible, that no empire, no odds, no oppression can touch what has been divinely written into every human soul. We’ve seen it in the valiant history of so many nations.
A blood memory which echoes songs of power and beauty from centuries ago. A deep rooted identity which strengthens shaky legs and shines a light in the darkness.

Today, March 3rd, as we honor Bulgaria worldwide, is the very reason for Blood Tax’s existence.
It felt like the perfect day to share a touch of the essence of our story and what we hope to inspire in all who see it -
our deepest untouchable identity as humans and the triumph of the spirit beyond any circumstance.

If our long and fabled history has taught us anything, it’s that Bulgarians love fiercely, move passionately, and fight until the end — because we’ve learned how sacred life, freedom, and love truly are. Values we honor not only in our own story, but in the spirit of humanity everywhere.

“There is no self-made man.” - @schwarzenegger said, as we talked about the impact his life long friend and our late sensei - Kyoshi Yamazaki - had on every area of his life.

I shared with him how inspired little 8 year old me was by the strength and skill of Conan, not knowing one day we’d be sitting together, connecting over the man and the legacy that was behind it all.
