발렌티나 마갈레티와 YPY는 타악기와 전자음, 즉흥을 넘나들며 독자적 사운드를 구축해온 듀오다. 마갈레티는 마림바와 콘택트 마이크, 일상용품까지 확장된 타악기 실천을 펼치고, YPY는 구조적이고 탐구적인 전자음악으로 긴장감 있는 음향을 만든다. 이들은 금속적 질감과 파편적 리듬의 반복 속에서 밀도 높은 사운드스케이프를 형성하며, 치밀함과 즉흥성이 교차하는 지점에서 새로운 청각적 틀을 제시한다. 한편 최태현과 서경수의 쾅프로그램은 록의 전형적 형식보다 그 주변에서 분출된 미적·문화적 반작용의 에너지를 음악적으로 탐구한다. 또한 한국 1세대 프리 재즈 색소폰 연주자 강태환은 1978년 강태환 트리오를 시작으로, 끊임없는 연습과 즉흥을 통해 독창적 프리뮤직을 이어오고 있다. 6월 11일, 이들의 음악이 서울에서 열리는 MODE의 첫 번째 프로그램에서 처음으로 한자리에 모인다.
