Let’s talk about the crew behind my short film (She called me her brother).

Some cosmic energy must have brought us together. Yes, it took effort. But it was worth every bit of it.

First, thank you, @khoobaba. You were the first to come on board, and I’m genuinely grateful for that.
You believed in me even after the pitch didn’t land — and now that we’ve actually made the film, the rushes are quietly proving the “professional panellists” wrong. 😌
Thank you for trusting me. And I trust your editing acumen to turn this into something people will feel.

Ahmad, my DP @ryphaee
You’re a rare gem. I still remember our first meeting — more than 2 hours of pure filmmaking talk. This is my directorial debut, and you’re stepping up to DP your first film after years as a camera assistant, soaking up real set experience.
Every discussion with you has been fruitful and eye-opening — and through you, this film also gained an incredible team of CAs, gaffers and grips @hafichan @Ardi.sontoroyo Syafiee, @dramaats, Aqil and more.
If I’m the brain of the film, Ahmad is the heart.
@desmondsimu Production Manager / AD You were the first one to come on board from the SMA list, and you agreed readily after my first pitch to you. With your quiet, steady demeanour, you pulled through and worked beautifully with the team. The set ran well because of you.

Chong Teck, PA. One of the early believers. Quiet. Meticulous. Always in the background, making things happen.

I saw it. I appreciated it. Thank you.
@viviannyann Wardrobe + Makeup
I almost missed this gem because you came in later — but you were exactly what we needed. You took care of the talents, kept them scene-ready, and you even gamely doubled as a passerby in one of the scenes. That kind of “I’ll just do it” energy is priceless.

Justin Loh, Sound Recordist. The Grand Master. You gave me — and everyone on the set — the confidence that this film could become something special.

And @puttara_ and @januariusjang
Thank you for charging into this project with gusto. Having familiar faces around gave me that extra energy and confidence.

This post is for the people who showed up and stayed. #scmhb #singaporefilm #

Filmmaking is antagonistic.
It fights you back.

So why do I still want to do it?

Because I need to tell stories.
Stories that are bursting from within me.
Stories that others are afraid to tell.

I want to be the mouthpiece for them.

So I started with my own.

It’s been a tough journey, to say the least.
Not everyone thinks I can do it.

And the worst?
The ones who encouraged me at the start—promised support—then avoided me or ghosted me when the real work began.

Still… I pressed on.

This film is for the ones who believed in me and my vision.
From the conception of the story to the actual shoot, I’ve learnt that everything—yes, even the rejections—happened for a reason.

To everyone who showed up, helped, carried something, solved a problem, gave a hand:
This film belongs to you. I love you all to bits. You’re the reason I kept going when things got difficult.

Thank you to the cast and crew of 她说我是她弟弟 (She called me her brother). @ryphaee @khoobaba @desmondsimu @puttara_ @jangjanuarius @ardi.sontoroyo @hafichan @yusungng @toofrigginyummy @karen_beeeee @viviannyann @matthias_heng @sallyteoshinealove @itsmegimgoh Justin Loh, Chong Teck, all the grip boys, AVM supermart, @enchantedcafe, my lovely sister, Kelly and the lovely Indian aunty for their location support and @goosebandsg for allowing us to use your amazing song.
