This past weekend I celebrated my 34th birthday! It’s been a great year full of highs and lows and I’m so happy to be around for another.

And yes in my humble opinion these are all TRUE YA books that I would feel comfortable handing to a teen but you use your own best judgement. (Fade to black or kissing only…very low language)

Nothing spreads more joy and community in women to me than a shared bookclub. I love the casual opportunity to learn more about other people through our relatable discussions and personal histories.

Both of these books were two of the last books discussed in my club. Sometimes the most average books make the best discussions. You never know what you’re going to get ❤️

LIFE & DEATH & GIANTS

The writing was fantastic and this was definitely more of a sad and melancholy story than I expected. It’s definitely heavy and handled some hard topics that were fairly dark. I loved Hannah and the inside look into her life as an Amish wife, and mother. She was by far my favorite character. This one definitely put me through a melody of emotions.

Ashley’s last release was so much fun and is easy to recommend. While I didn’t love this one as much as her last…I don’t regret listening to this. It was a quick and engaging read and our bookclub had a fun time discussing the plot twists and hidden identities and timelines. Thrillers always make for a good discussion in my opinion!

This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews

My first portal fantasy was a hit! I really enjoyed this story: it felt like a standout from all the romantasy I have been consuming this year. It was a breath of fresh air and I very much enjoyed these characters. My first portal fantasy but definitely not my last. I will anxiously be awaiting this sequel!

What is your favorite historical romance you’ve read this year?!

THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE from Megan.

The YEARNING.

Fantastic PLOT.

A Duke whereby all other dukes SHOULD be patterned after.

The small moments that built genuine romantic tension.

When a Duke and a lady build a bargain to fix a shattered reputation and trade a family heirloom, sparks and unintended feelings bloom.

This book was everything I hoped it would be and more. I had a hard time putting it down and couldn’t wait to get back to it. I so do love a forced proximity setting!

These two characters are very well crafted and entirely well suited for the other. Megan wrote so many moments filled with fantastic chemistry that I couldn’t get enough of.

It was lovely, heartfelt, angsty, romantic…..and if you love the sweet historical romance genre this is 100% one I wouldn’t pass on. It’s a spin off from other books but I definitely think you can just read this one on its own.
