Hot on the heels of #BeatTheStreet, which saw thousands of local people exploring where they live, is this year’s family-friendly Clay Walk Festival. Starting on Tuesday and running all week, this is a fantastic opportunity to discover walks around the Clay Villages by joining a guided walk or drop-in event, having fun with others whilst improving health and wellbeing through connecting with nature. If you join us on Wednesday you can get to meet our team and our community media partner @Chaos too!
Be part of something special #LetsGoStAustell

We’ve been getting out this week meeting some of those who won prizes by taking part in #BeatTheStreet 🎉 Yesterday we popped in to see the brilliant pupils and staff from Alverton Primary School in Penzance celebrating their prize win - smiles all round! 👏🚶♀️🚴♂️
Thank you to everyone who got involved and made the game such a success. We’re loving your stories and hearing how you’re staying active, getting those steps in and keeping the wheels turning. We’re just planning how to best share these and in the meantime #LetsGoPenzance #LetsGoStAustell 😊

Yesterday we celebrated the outstanding contribution of Rebecca Jones who has been on student placement with us from the @uniofbath, helping to develop our new Digital Health Hub designed to empower healthcare professionals and older adults to promote and live active lifestyles within the community. Whilst she prepares to complete her final year studying BSc Health and Exercise Science, Rebecca will continue to support our team – we just won’t see her quite as much!
Thanks for all your hard work Rebecca, and enjoy a slightly more restful summer 😊

Inclusive sport starts with welcoming environments.
Today we're celebrating the work of Sport Welfare Officers as part of #SportWelfareInAction. Everyone deserves to feel safe and welcome.

Earlier this week our team came together with some incredible partners for a two-day @officialsportengland Leadership Programme as part of our Place Partnership work in Cornwall, which is focused initially in the Penzance and St Austell areas.
A fantastic opportunity to convene 25 like-minded leaders for honest, open and insightful discussion, building connectivity and trust whilst recognising the complexity of systems-change work. With space for reflection and deeper conversations about long-lasting, community-driven solutions, the programme was an important next step in fostering a shared learning culture, shifting mindset and exploring how we can do things differently together towards tackling inactivity and inequalities in the heart of our communities.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and contributed so brilliantly, and a special thanks to sabzideli for the delicious vegetarian lunches.
We're genuinely excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue to shape this important work together #LetsGo

We’re excited to launch Walky Wheely Wednesdays in Penzance in two weeks time, encouraging more active, accessible and inclusive journeys to school! 🌍💚
A huge thank you to these 5 schools who have helped us shape the programme and will be taking part when we launch after May half term:
Alverton School
Gulval School
Heamoor School
Newlyn School
St Mary's CofE School
Building on what we collectively achieved with Beat The Street, this initiative is about embedding those healthier travel habits whilst boosting accessibility and community connection.
Over the coming months, we’ll be gathering feedback, learning what works best and refining Walky Wheely Wednesdays with a view to rolling it out to all schools in Penzance from September🤞

It's Club Day as part of #SportWelfareInAction!
Sport Welfare Officers provide free, expert support to clubs on safeguarding, welfare, and creating more inclusive environments. Whether you're a junior gymnastics club or an adult netball team, your local SWO is there for you. Here in Cornwall, we are pleased to have Laura here providing expert support as our local SWO.
To find out more about Laura and how she can support you and your club, head to our website.
#SportWelfareInAction #SportWelfare #ClubWelfare

We're proudly supporting the national @active_partnerships #SportWelfareInAction campaign which launches today, celebrating the Sport Welfare Officer Network and what it offers to clubs across England. Working in partnership, Sport Welfare Officers help clubs create safe, welcoming and inclusive environments for everyone who takes part - since 2024 the network has collectively supported more than 5,000 clubs across England, including over 200 here in Cornwall.
See our Sport Welfare Officer provision on our website, just look for safeguarding and welfare.

It’s Walk to School Week - a great opportunity to get active with the family, enjoy some fresh air and make your journey to school part of the adventure. We saw some great examples of this during #BeatTheStreet so, whether walking, wheeling or scooting, we’d love to see how you’re taking part! 🌍
We’re super excited to announce the launch of ‘Walky Wheely Wednesday’ which we’re trialling initially in 5 schools in Penzance 😊 Children are being encouraged to walk, wheel or cycle to and from school every Wednesday after the half term break, for a chance to win points. We can't wait, why not practice this week and work out your route!🚶♀️🚶👨🦽➡️🚲🛴

Please remember to complete the post-game survey for #BeatTheStreet as it closes tomorrow (Sunday 17th May)!
Your feedback is just as important as taking part. We’d love to hear about your experiences - not only to help us improve future activities, spaces and facilities where you live but also support future funding opportunities to create a legacy from the game. Be in with a chance to win a £50 Argos voucher (if you’re an adult) or £50 Lego voucher (if you’re a child)!
