Where does hope happen? Right here.

There’s a lot of hope happening across Britain right now. You just need to look for it.

This Week of Hope, more than 1,000 hopeful events and activities have happened across cities, towns and villages in the UK. Communities have been coming together, showing up and making the world better for all of us.

We made a film about it so you can see for yourself. Watch it, share it, show that hope can be louder than hate. 🧡
Share to spread hope.

Sometimes, you can lose community when you leave the military - and that loss can be profound. But last week @damekellyholmes met @karen_tvhs_brinkman from @eastkentmind - founder of the Thanet Veterans Group - and she reminded us all what’s possible when someone steps up to bring people together.

Women from different military backgrounds, different ages, different life journeys - all finding their community, their voices and their belonging in the space Karen has created. People like her are what our communities are built on, quietly making life a little lighter, a little less lonely, and a little more connected for the people around them. Thank you for reminding us what it means to show up for each other. For showing us what hope really looks like. 💛 Thank someone who gives you hope today. Tag them in the comments. #MillionActsOfHope

Across the UK right now, people are quietly doing extraordinary things for one another - for their neighbours, their communities, total strangers - choosing hope over hate.

For one week this May (13–20th), we’re bringing hope into the open. Because hope is often quiet - it doesn’t make headlines. But it’s right outside our doors. It’s what brings us together.

@simonpegg @doctoramirkhan @damekellyholmes and @josierones went to find some of these hopeful heroes - and share a very heartfelt thank you.

Because hope always counts. And this week it gets counted.

Thank someone who gives you hope today. Tag them in the comments. 💛 #MillionActsOfHope

✂️🧡📣This week at RMJ’s community hub, as clients waited for legal advice, food parcels, or just someone to talk to, we created some time and space to collectively ponder a single, simple but profound question: What gives you hope?

Clients, families, and members of the community responded by writing their thoughts down on orange heart-shaped notes, contributing to our ever-growing Bunting of Hope – a wonderful collective expression of resilience, compassion, and hope for the future.

📣‼️As part of A Million Acts of Hope, we are proud to join the many communities all around the UK that are proving that hope can drown out hate.

At RMJ, hope can be found in the welcoming, solidarity, care, and connection provided by our legal and community teams, as well as the perseverance of the amazing community that comes to us despite all odds.

The bunting will soon adorn the walls of the remarkable individuals who make hope happen at RMJ.

Because every act counts. Every act makes a difference. 🧡 #MillionActsOfHope #

Our children spent some time today reflecting on the future and putting their biggest, brightest dreams into words. Each one wrote their personal hope onto a card, adding their voice to a massive global movement of positivity. 🕊️💛

For the #MillionActsofHope campaign we want to share an extract from the fable, The River That Forgot Its Name.

This beautiful piece was written by Mymona Bibi, who leads our World Writes group.

The group meet regularly in the west end of Newcastle and its members speak and write in many languages, including Arabic, Spanish, Swiss-German, Kurdish, Sylheti, Portuguese.

The fable speaks of the yearning to speak in a mother tongue after a period of language loss and oppression. It connects language with natural landscapes to encompass the participants' relationships with their mother tongues, and relationships with their motherlands.

This fable is a symbol of hope for anyone who has suffered linguistic and cultural loss. World Writes is a space of hope for those who come together and write.

We believe writing is an act of hope, it connects us to other humans, transmitting what we think and feel, hoping to gain a mutual understanding.

All week, we’ve been celebrating hopeful moments as part of @1mactsofhope’s Week of Action - proving that our communities are full of kindness, care and hope ❤️

Across our Skylights, members, staff and volunteers have come together to celebrate what hope means to them. In London, people created a beautiful hope garland together. In Brent, members made a collage of an olive tree and even planted one in the Skylight’s garden. In Croydon, members and volunteers created an art piece featuring messages of hope. In Oxford, members took part in an arts workshop and created a song about hope 🎶

Every act reminds us that hope is powerful. It’s there in every person taking their first step out of homelessness — and in every lead worker supporting them along the way.

Two thirds of the British public say that their community is peaceful and friendly ☺️☀️

Over the week, including this weekend, more than 350 communities across the country are hosting events to counter the increasing voices of hate and division.

It’s not too late to join in and make a small act of hope. 🧡
