From punk and post-hardcore sprouted a movement that clung tight to thrift store shirts and basement show tours, but embraced a more introspective and pop-friendly approach. Within the Midwest, from Canada down to Texas, the “emo” movement took on a life of its own, and its influence still lingers.

Old school never dies! 🔥

Today, the album of the day on tape is an absolute foundation of death metal, still resonating powerfully today. Death's "Leprosy" is a milestone in death metal, forever defining and shaping the genre with its raw sound, Chuck Schuldiner's technical riffs, and the iconic track "Pull the Plug." The sound is the key work of Scott Burns at Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Florida.

First Listen of @eobofficial’s ‘Blue Morpho’ vinyl from on the @wrensilva Studio record console. Out this Friday 22nd May.

‘Blue Morpho’ is Ed at his most honest and unguarded, a record that sounds like four years of real life distilled into seven tracks. Hypnotic psych-folk, beguiling trip-hop, radiant guitars, and a luminous stillness that doesn’t just ask to be heard, it asks to be felt. Born out of darkness and rebuilt through nature and slow creative reckoning, this is the kind of record where vinyl gives you everything: every orchestral swell, every flute texture, every slow burn exactly as it was meant to land.

Order ‘Blue Morpho’ on vinyl via the link in bio/stories or via @transgressivehq store.

Alto saxophonist and flutist @alanbraufman first emerged in New York's 1970s loft-jazz scene with his debut album, @ValleyofSearch. Now, Braufman returns to the spotlight with 'Anthem for Peace,' a new studio album that captures his sound in the present tense.

To celebrate the album's release, Braufman shares five albums "of what I consider to have been the most meaningful and most influential to me. The vast majority of my record collection was acquired during my teen years, ages 13-19. Those were the formative years, and I was fortunate to be around at such an exciting time for music, the '60s."

Released on this day 🎸

Rising is the second studio album released by the British rock band Rainbow on May 17, 1976 by Oyster Records. A very significant milestone celebrating 50 years of ‘70s hard rock.

Following the release of Rainbow’s debut album bandleader and lead guitarist dismissed all members except vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Needing new members for an upcoming tour and album, Ritchie Blackmore recruited Cozy Powell (Drums), Jimmy Bain (Bass), and Tony Carey (keyboard). The new lineup began rehearsing and touring late 1975.

The album comes in at 33:28, with two tracks exceeding 8 minutes, both on side two.
