Michaela Turcerová’s compositions unfold in slow motion. The saxophonist and composer’s glacial music zeroes in on the granularities of each note as it rings, soaking in every subtle shift in texture and pitch.

Šumum builds from Tercerova’s longheld interests in place and minimalism. Many of the composer’s works explore perception: how a room can shape the music we hear, and how repetition alters a melody. Like the music of Éliane Radigue, Šumum embraces the rainbow of colors that appear when close listening with the wave-like flow of looped melodic and rhythmic patterns. All the album’s pieces observe the subtle changes that happen as music grows.

It has been a year and a half since her visionary album alene et, a record defined by a radical deconstruction of the saxophone. In the meantime, Michaela has been busy performing across Europe—from Cafe OTO, Q-O2, and GRM to festivals like KRAAK, NEXT, Counterflows, and Oscillation.

We are very happy to continue our collaboration. Her upcoming album, recorded with Ensemble ŠUMUM, finds Turcerová and her fellow musicians (@irenebianco13, @edwardlugowsky, @sarah._.buchner, @lukazabric, @a._thom, @jekabssr, @markibsgaardgregersen, and Lorenzo Colocci) diving into minimalist, drone-based waters—constantly in motion and filled with unpredictable micro-resonances.

Hosted by Lena Ruzhytska and Jenya Ponomarov (UA), Payment Pending transforms historical air raid alert data from Ukraine into a continuous stream of printed receipts. 🧾

Each slip of the check-writing machine records the start and end of a real air raid alert in Ukraine — moments drawn directly from lived data during Russia’s ongoing full-scale invasion.

Instead of monetary transactions, the device calculates time spent in interruption: minutes and hours redirected into shelters, waiting, enduring terror, and uncertainty. The machine converts this duration into an accumulating “cost,” registering time that can never be recovered. A digital display continuously updates this total, adding each printed interval to reveal the growing collective toll of sheltering.

Even in moments without sirens, a certain tension remains. The anticipation of interruption never fully disappears, amplified by unsettling drones between alerts.

The exhibition is situated within a metro station, further emphasizing how underground spaces in Ukraine function both as transit hubs and shelters during air raids.

Payment Pending reflects on stolen time and how war occupies attention, imposing a permanent state of anticipation.

The resulting balance can never truly be settled. 🕊️

„Bolkove lyrics sú láskyplným reliktom alebo reliktnou láskou, kde v srdciach zaľúbencov znie sentimentálne odfukovanie moravskej dychovky a svet mäkne v očakávaní jari, s túžobným výkrikom na perách: Nech už okolo nás opäť všetko šumívoniaperlíkvitne! Bolka prepadáva pocitom náhleho vzplanutia napriek všadeprítomným trhlinám, klimatickému žiaľu a navždy strateným istotám. Alebo je to práve kvôli nim? Ako nevyliečiteľný romantik pobehuje po krajine s roztrhanou sieťkou na babôčky, ktoré mu poletujú v bruchu a ich hmýrivý, šteklivý pohyb mu nedovolí zastaviť sa.

‚Najnovšie skladby z pripravovaného albumu schwarzkopf sú dekonštruované balady, ktoré sa pohybujú v zvláštnom priestore medzi zraniteľnosťou a šibalstvom, na mieste, kde sa intímne priznania stretávajú s radikálnou hravosťou,‘ píše Daniel Vadas.

I first experienced @goodbyeclifford music live at a show we put on at @lom.space in autumn 2023. At the time, the project was still in its early stages, with the debut EP Kingdom just released. Even then, what stood out was the collage-like approach, one in which multiple voices emerge from liminal spaces, shaped by moments of emotional rupture.

Written, produced and mixed by GbClifford, the release follows up on the elusive, multifaceted output of the Prague-based experimental artist, who dresses fleeting glimpses of youthful yearning, sentiment and fragility in the blunt apparel of distortion and immediacy, as @julaa.pata writes.

LOVE, DISKITO follows My Heart Is Bigger Than the Grief Inside of It (2024) and Mock the World 2gether (2025, @w.rong.corp.s), and in a way loops back to the raw, DIY, haunting atmosphere of GbClifford’s formative phase.

🌅 📑Madrugada para oito tells the story of one person’s experience with the Portuguese tax office through a series of drawings. They originated during a sleepless night spent waiting in line for a NIF (taxpayer identification number), which only eight people receive each day in Barreiro. In order to be one of the lucky eight receivers, Alena had to arrive at the office at 10 in the evening, and wait in line untilsunrise, when the office opened.

Even today, new people still come in the evening and sleep outside the office in the hope of receiving their NIF number. Alena initially hoped to create site-specific benches to help migrants spend their night more comfortably. However, the original office closed, and she found its remnants in the form of the large boards covered in faded blue fabric, once used to separate employees of Finanças.
Boards that now carry the exhibited drawings.

Amid layers of dust, small scenes appear, moments where a person’s life meets a confusing system that repeats the same absurd tasks every day. Each night, the system leaves people waiting outside, drifting between watching and dreaming of sunrise and their nine-digit number.

At Villa Karpatia, the boards become witnesses to events, a recording archive and a sketchbook of scenes from bureaucratic life, serving as panel-altars or stations along the calvary of administrative orders and duties.

On schwarzkopf, Bolka returns wishing for a thick black hair. With his charming love songs, that are positioned somewhere between a tightly run freak folk orchestra, deconstructed ballads and colorful ecstatic melancholy, he creates an album that thrives on juxtapositions that are completely unique, yet strangely familiar. His songs move in that strange space between vulnerability and mischief, where intimate confessions collide with radical playfulness and the poetic rubs shoulders with the delightfully ridiculous.

On schwarzkopf, Bolka expands his world with a wide circle of collaborators and an even richer sonic palette. The album is meticulously detailed yet carefree: delicate moments sit next to sudden explosions, drifting from gentle pop to bursts of noise. Toward the end, the album even slips into a footwork-infused remix by Kodiki, passes through Julek ploski’s signature neon-baroque string perspective, and briefly wanders into Lénok’s cinematic sonic world.

Welcome, Bolka!

Every family needs at least one enfant terrible. And every enfant terrible needs a lot of love.

Today we welcome Bolka into our home, the cat queen of all enfants terribles. He is a lifelong sound experimenter, a man from the theatre called Life, and someone who never stopped looking for love at first sight. An artist connected to many scenes, an Eastern European traveller from Slovakia who once went to The Hague to study Sonology.

Bolka likes to connect things that should not fit together. When he does, you wonder why nobody did it before, and why you are hearing it only now.

It is hard to describe. Imagine glitch music and indietronica mixed with sweet folk melodies, the joy of brass bands, easy spa-town orchester music, and enthusiastic accordion music. It is a kind of circus balance. A little like Animal Collective, but sometimes more solo than a collective. A little like Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, but sometimes less alone and more collective.

Think of "korcsma music" from the world of Sátántangó played on a barrel organ. Summer swimming pool hits coming from crackling loudspeakers. A slightly dreamy wish to drink life to the last drop.

Expect some beautiful guests!

The opening takes place at @maisunomaisum (Picoas metro) and will be accompanied by @drub1ei dj set.

With this event, we are launching a series of experimental, Eastern-European-vibed events organized by Villa Karpatia.

M.L.D.S., or Multidimensional Leak Detection System may be a tool like a scanner or a camera, capable of capturing different layers and dimensions of space and revealing artefacts that flow from one layer to another, from one dimension into the next.

M.L.D.S. serves to unearth and excavate through these layers, opening onto realities that feel both alien and intimate. Scale is no longer linear or stable, but fluid and elastic, overlapping spaces that feel cosmic and microscopic at the same time.

It feels as though this mode of capture engages with spatial layers that human senses alone cannot recognize, and that can only be registered through this kind of special device, a detection system.

Images evoke a sense of leaking, which can work as a connective substance stretching across and linking different realms, surfaces and spatio-temporalities. What emerges may be a new reality, or rather a superimposition of multiple possible realities layered over one another.

The exhibition takes place in an underground passage leading to the metro, embracing its liminal nature and weathered conditions.

M.L.D.S. is a form of contemporary digital escapism. Daydreaming an alternative, filtered reality while traversing the multitude of environments one passes day to day.
