“On the outskirts of Buenos Aires is Vencer Para Vivir, a remarkable rehabilitation center that you wouldn’t easily stumble upon. In 2022, I visited my cousin @lucasactor39 in Argentina, seeing him for the first time in almost a decade. He had just finished two years at Vencer Para Vivir recovering from addiction. Today, he lives a renewed, clean life.

What I found at Vencer Para Vivir defied my expectations. It wasn’t a hospital-like facility, nor did it follow a traditional 12-step program. Instead, the center operates on four core pillars: love, understanding, dialogue, and dedication. Residents take on various roles and responsibilities, reshaping their habits as they prepare to reintegrate into society. For Lucas, this place wasn’t just a rehabilitation center. It was home. Inspired by his journey, we made this deeply personal short film.

Shot on location in Argentina, the 17-minute film seeks to humanize those struggling with addiction and shed light on the realities of getting clean. Featuring both actors and real-life residents of Vencer Para Vivir, the film tells a fictional yet deeply authentic story of resilience, community, and hope.”

So happy to finally have this project out for everyone to see. It’s been in the works for years with an international Argentine-American cast and crew. Very special thanks to my cousin @lucasactor39 for proposing the idea of making a short film all those years ago, and to @jeremiahschuler @schulerjohnny @xicofoto, who really helped us bring it to life. Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of everyone at @vencerparavivir1.

I’m so thankful to share a story that reflects the hope and strength of the community at Vencer Para Vivir that I witnessed every time I visited and spoke with people there. I’m so proud of my cousin @lucasactor39 for putting his heart and soul into this film, not only as a co-writer, but as the lead actor, alongside his own son.

While set in Argentina, it speaks to a universal experience: addiction and the stigma that too often accompanies it.

El Último Tramo is a story about recovery and the power of community that makes each day a little bit easier. Though fictional, it reflects real lives. We filmed at the rehab center @vencerparavivir1 where our lead actor, @lucasactor39, spent two years in recovery before we made this film.

This film is for everyone who is part of that story at Vencer Para Vivir. We’re so grateful to share something that reflects the hope and strength of the community we witnessed every time we visited and spoke with people there.

It all began in 2022, when Dominick visited Lucas who had just spent two years in recovery at the Vencer para Vivir rehab center in Argentina. On March 31, 2026, our international short film, El Último Tramo premieres on YouTube.

Set in Buenos Aires, the film follows a recovered addict determined to repair his life and reconnect with his family as he returns to the rehabilitation center that once saved him. When a fellow patient runs away, he sets out to find him, hoping to bring him back before it’s too late.

It’s a heartfelt story about second chances, community, and compassion— a culmination of more than four years of work. We can’t wait to share it!
