It’s been 1 week since performing at @theofficenashville with @with_shams and all I can think about is being on stage. Tonight I’ll be solo kicking off the Dog Cancer Bites benefit show at 4D’s @ 9pm. Should I play my own music or exclusively Michael Bolton songs???

It doesn’t matter how big or small the show is, I still experience some level of stage fright or performance anxiety before every event. The second I walk out on that stage everything washes away..

This past weekend in Nashville was a blur. I was so nervous and excited to get onstage to perform Run with @with_shams but everything went off without a hitch! He and his team were so thorough and put together it made my job so easy. I miss being down there all the time, but I am back in PA working on more music and videos to share with the world.

I want to give a very special shout out to my friend @feather for thinking of me when it was time to find a singer for this track. Kyle has always been a wonderful friend and confidant, and most of all a big brother type figure to me through some of the most challenging periods of my creative journey. He arranged for me to be on the song, arranged for me to come down to Nashville to perform it, and sent me home with a heart full of love and joy.

I’ll always be grateful for the friends I’ve made along the way. Growing up on the road I’ve been able to create so many lasting bonds that I will never ever take for granted, and I’m psyched to be making new memories and new friends all of the time.

Nashville! Last night we hung out, ran some songs, talked about life and got to know each other a little better. Tonight we’ll be at @theofficenashville performing together for the second time ever. Come hang & bring the energy!

There’s a lot that goes into the transition from being a part of a band to being the sole member of your project. These are three things I wish people would’ve told me about before I embarked on my solo journey.

1. It gets very lonely.

Long nights, early mornings, writing songs & making drives by yourself are all just part of the game now. What felt like a big win for a bigger purpose can begin to feel empty.

2. Your Music Money is not your money.

Going from being in a band where things are split up evenly or costs are taken out of a band fund, it’s important to reinvest what you’re making. You may think you’ll make more money being solo, but you’ll have to pay for everything by yourself. Live musicians, studio time, fuel, marketing assets etc, it’s all your responsibility now. Dont go blow your show money at the bar because you think you’re a rockstar.

3. You are completely free to do what you want.

Being in a project with other people can create a lot of value but also make tension when you want to do something that your heart tells you. Go do that writing session, jump into the open jam night. The entire world is yours and all your friends can be a part of what you’re doing, not just a select few of them.

Last weekend was a busy and productive one! Huge thanks to Altoona Curve, Bo Moore and Cannatoona for hosting Walkney & making me feel so welcomed and appreciated. I couldn’t do this without the people who lift me up!

One week of Emotion, tbt reunion show is sold out I went skating yesterday (horribly) and I’m already trying to plan my next release. Part of me wants to make a music video for this song, what do you think?

I’ve released a fair amount of music as a solo artist, but nothing even close to what I’ve got in the bank. These days it’s all about the social media & Spotify numbers, but I truly think I enjoy the creative process the most. Making these videos and clips for social media gets me an into a creative zone in a different way, always thinking of different ways to perform or promote my music. For this one I was driving through the pouring rain listening to Emotion and I thought, “hey this kind of feels like how I felt when I wrote this song.” I saw an empty basketball court, pulled over, whipped the dogs out and started singing along.

You never know when inspiration is going to strike. I’ve found it’s best to pull that thread the second it crosses your mind. If you’re an artist struggling with the new world of promotion and self exposure just remember it’s supposed to be fun.

This song sat on a hard drive for years.. I struggled for so long to share my art with the world. Perfection is the enemy. Be yourself, share it with the world. You never know what can happen.
