🥾 The miles are adding up! Hikers across the East Bay are hitting the trails in Regional Parks for the 2026 Trails Challenge — and there’s still time to join in on the outdoors fun.

This year’s featured hikes are preloaded into the AllTrails app, making it even easier to explore new adventures. You can also download a PDF version of the official Trails Challenge guidebook.

🔗 Find both tools at www.ebparks.org/trails-challenge.

Big thanks to our 2026 sponsors: @kaiserpermanente, @regionalparksfoundation, and @alltrails. 💚

🌕🐟 Have you ever seen fish “run” onto the beach under the moonlight?

Join us at Crown Memorial State Beach in Alameda for a rare chance to witness the fascinating grunion run — a remarkable spawning event where small silvery fish may ride the waves onto shore during peak tides following the full and new moons.

Programs include an educational evening walk on May 16 and late-night grunion search opportunities on May 31 and June 29. Every run is unique, and sightings are never guaranteed — making each experience a true coastal surprise. 🌊✨

📍 Crown Memorial State Beach, Alameda
🎟️ Registration required | Ages 10+

Registration required. Learn more at ebparks.org/calendar and search “Full Moon Grunion Search.”

Summer fun is around the corner – the 2026 swim season is here! Park District swim facilities will operate on a standardized season this year, May 16–Sept. 27, with all locations aligned to the same overall timeframe. Visit the swimming webpage for links to each facility’s page with specific hours and days of operation. www.ebparks.org/swimming

Please note these two exceptions:
✔️Roberts Pool opening is delayed pending restroom repairs, now expected mid- to late June.
✔️Don Castro Swim Lagoon opening is delayed due to a killdeer nest discovered on-site. Killdeer are ground-nesting birds protected by state and federal law, and their nests cannot be moved or disturbed. Staff are actively monitoring the killdeer nest. A tentative opening is scheduled for June 6, but this will depend on the status of the nest. We’ll share updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience as we balance public access with wildlife protection.

1,000 trips = hundreds of thousands of moments unlocking the senses.🌿

When young people step outside, something shifts.
They look closer, listen deeper, feel more, and move with intention.

For our 1,000th outdoor learning experience, @oaklandgoesoutdoors and 100 @frickunited 6th graders headed to @ebrpd Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park to do what we always do: slow down, engage the senses, and let nature be the teacher.

A banana slug. A rushing creek. Moss beneath their fingertips. Birds cutting through the quiet.
Moments you can see, hear, and feel.

These aren’t just details, they’re doorways to curiosity, confidence, and belonging.

Here’s to 1,000 more. 🙌🏽🌲

Spirit and Form.

The unseen and the seen. The energy we carry and the shape it takes. These kits are a tribute to both, to the soul behind the badge and the form it takes when we step onto the pitch and into the world.

Thank you to the East Bay Regional Park District (@ebrpd) for helping us bring this campaign to life and for sharing the natural beauty of the East Bay with us.
